2025 / 2026 College watch thread

If you're watching the Ole Miss/Geogia game, keep an eye on Ole Miss TE Dae'quan Wright. 2nd in receiving yards for TE behind Michael Trigg and leads FBS in yards per reception with 22.

No, you advise against getting over-attached to prospects.

Had 2 sacks today.

That's a good idea

Carnell Tate is 4/85 - 2 TDs in the first quarter.

Edit: And David Bailey already has 2 sacks half way through the 1st quarter.

Kirby Smart called him the best DL in the SEC

There is zero pass rush in this Georgia/Ole Miss game. Although it's 21-17 in the first half, it's kinda boring.

Unbeaten teams in trouble. Miami yesterday and Ole Miss and Texas Tech in trouble today. UNLV too.

Kenyon Sadiq is currently 4-80-2TDs.

Some amazing games yesterday, and some amazing performances on both sides of the ball.

I've mentioned this before, but I feel that college football has gotten so much more competitive and exciting. There is more parity with players moving around for NIL money. The players look more pro ready. The spectacular plays are routine, one more spectacular than the next.

We're seeing that balance with how poorly Clemson, Texas and Penn State are doing. All were amongst the national champions favourites list. I want to tip my hat to Curt Cignetti at Indiana. What a job he's doing with a roster he built largely from transfers from James Madison that he brought with him.

Cignetti's teams always look so well coached.

We're seeing a lot of good emerging coaches. Cignetti, Ryan Day, Dan Lanning, Matt Rhule.

I feel like college football is a different world from where it was 5 years ago.

I also feel like we are seeing a difference in terms of the talent pipeline to the NFL and the draft. As recently as 2 years ago, the talent level outside of the 1st round dropped off dramatically. Last year, there was easily 5 rounds worth of talent. This year looks just as deep - I can list 150+ players easily, with some of the options outside of the top 100 being really exciting players.

The media is totally confused. The #180 guy on one board may be top 40 on another. You can't just rely on big names from big name schools. You really have to be able to scout and evaluate. If you can do that, and develop players on the NFL level, the sky is the limit.
