Something to keep an eye on as the year goes on...

At the moment the 2019 Ravens are on pace to (barely -- 1429yd*(16/7) = 3,266yd) take the NFL single-season rushing record (3,165yd) away from the 1978 Patriots. That's pretty amazing in this day and age. I would have thought that record would never even be challenged.

So it would be good for the Boogeymen to put a nice dent in that. (Though winning by whatever strategy comes first, of course.)

Belichick is producing the blueprint right now. It's slow going though because Ernie still uses a mimeograph machine from 1978 and the crank is busted. Still, once the copies go out to the rest of the teams, the record will stay intact.

The 2006 Falcons came close with 2,939. Dunn with 1140, Vick with 1039, and Norwood with 633 as the primary rushers.

Didn’t the 2008 Panthers have a bunch of yardage too? Remember both DeAngelo Williams and J Stewart rushing for 1,000 each that year.

You know? It’s cool and all that the 78 Pats still hold that record.

But at the end of the day... if you’re running that much, it is more likely than not you’re also an incompetent passing team. Running that much can only take you so far.

And their season will finish just like the 1978 Patriots - without a playoff win

Pity and sad that we were unable to win 1 Super Bowl during 1976/1978 period...
:(

This team because more of a paper superpower the longer they don’t play.

Some perspective - the Ravens to date have played the 31st, 25th, 30th, 29th, 15th, 32nd and 16th ranked run defenses in the league respectively.

Obviously those rankings are impacted by the fact they did play the Ravens but it's not like they played some shutdown run defenses either. The 15th ranked team is the Steelers and they were held to 138 yards rushing in that game, the lowest this season by a good chunk.

Patriots: 4th ranked run defense in yards going in to this game. We'll see if the Ravens running game is for real or not.

Actually it was outright thievery in the person of Ben Dreith, APF should be along in a few moments to flesh the subject out. Unless he's already donned his Pat Patriot Halloween outfit, gotten on his horse and started riding down 128 warning everyone the Elvi are coming. In which case it may take a couple of days for bail to get posted

The stats are skewed because of Jackson’s rushing yards, since he passes for like 140 per game. So it sounds really impressive until you consider the QB is merely racking up rushing yards at the expense of passing yards.

and if you run the ball more it also lessens your passing attempts. Doesn't really matter if the QB runs it or a RB does.

In 1978 the Patriots averaged less than 200 passing yards per game but they averaged 198 rushing yards per game.

The 2019 Ravens average 244 passing yards and 204 rushing yards per game.

I wonder if those copies will still smell cool...
