2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

A little down to today but positive going forward as bad as they played last night, the score was still 3-2 and the Bruins still had a chance to steal one. That overtime was insane
Domination. Felt like a 5 on 3 advantage for the Blue’s from the drop.

We’ll see how the B’s respond on the road. Hopefully with a lot more enthusiasm than what they showed. Last to the puck is a sure way to lose.

Agree but I struggle with the notion the Bs didn't play with a lot of energy and enthusiasm some posters are claiming. The most certainly did last night. I think the issue is STL played at a different level. Very focused. Played hard. Finished their checks. Crisper passes. Everytime the Bs did something such as score, a bit hit, etc STL responded. They simply played an outstanding game. Not sure they can play any better TBH. It seemed very similar to G2 vs CBJ.

I fully expect the Bs to respond, raise their game on the road and win G3.

Yep...and Jaden Schwartz was also taking a Lot of liberties too...Zebras better lay down the law to the former goon Berube before puck-drop; otherwise the Blues will only escalate their cheap-ass stick-work.
So much for that suggestion...

Oh yes, one more thing...
WHAT THE FECK IS WRONG WITH THE BERGERON LINE?!? The 2nd goal the Blues scored is ALL ON THEM. Therefore the loss is ALL ON THEM.

Ladies & germs, your 2019 Stanley Cup champions: the Saint Louis Blues.

Chara needs:

1st line better seriously step up

OR

this will not end well!

Yup.

The Bs 1st line is far and away the best line in this series (based on talent/production).

If they aren't going to play to at least some semblance of that, the Bs will be in trouble.

Chara needs:

He has definitely lost a step and seemed more like a liability more than a few times out there last night. He still has value, but some of his ice time needs to be given to John Moore, Connor Clifton or Steven Kampfer. Unfortunately, I'm afraid Grzelcyk may be done and not sure what Kevan Miller's status is.

Damn that game last night felt like another one we should have won but didn't. Note to Bruce Cassidy - better go with 7 defensemen from now on...

Hes definately lost a step but playing good D, hes leads all players in the playoffs with a +11.

Thanks to Rask, Carlo and some back-checking, that +/- could be lower. There were 2 plays last night where he got beaten easily to the puck, but Rask made the save. Chara still has the great range and presence when he doesn't have to move his feet. I feel like Berube figured out how to expose him with fast forwards like Schwartz from the way they were breaking out of their end of the neutral zone leading to what could've been many partial breakaways or odd-man rushes. Gotta contain that going forward or it could be costly.

I've always thought that since there are no other 6'9 defenseman in the NHL, that players from other team can never get used to how long Chara's reach is. They continually underestimate just how long his stick really is. And I think that's what is covering up his age, right now. If Bruins win the cup, he would be smart to retire.

If I were Berube, I would have stuck a defenseman in scrimmage, during the long layoff with a 7' stick to get the forwards used to that kind of reach.

I hope its not like the celts vs bucks series
Stop that kind of talk immediately

I want nothing but sunshine and rainbows in this thread and when it rains, it rains peanut M&Ms

Bergeron: cliff

Marchand: hurt?

Pasternak: eurotrash

B's had the upper hand until the Grzelcyk injury. After that.....total domination by the Blues. It's as if with only 5 defenders, the B's mindset devolved into a survival mode without structure.

Regarding Chara.....when he is on the ice, the Bruins go into a tight formation in their own end with Z glued to his spot regardless if the puck heads into his corner of responsibility. Toronto and now St Louis owned the time of possession in the B's end with Chara out there. Chara's defensive partner is clearly tasked with covering for Chara when the puck gets dumped into the B's end. And Chara's clearing skills have become a mixed bag: will his flip land outside the blue line or over the glass.
It is what it is.
Coincidence or not....Game 4 vs Carolina without Chara....Boston was able to extricate pucks from their own end seamlessly and coincidence or not....Boston had their most impressive offensive game in the playoffs

My hope: Having 6 healthy defenders for game 3, regardless of who they are, will be the simple solution to get Boston back on track

Down the road...should their be a discussion if invisible Pasta deserves the Tyler Seguin one way ticket out of here treatment for his no show in so many games. Injury? Regular season warrior? Too small a sample?
