King missed three games with a hamstring issue. Slater missed seven games with a hamstring issue and was limited in a couple others. Ebner missed weeks 1 & 2 with a shoulder injury, and then the last five games on IR with an ACL tear.

And yet, the Pats ST coverage units were ...
- 3rd in KR average allowed (18.87 yds)
- 4th in PR average allowed (4.5 yds)
- 3rd best at limiting the opponent's starting point (23.3-yd-line)

Great ST depth. Great ST coaching. Great job by Gost and Allen.

Any credit for improved tackling goes to @SammyBlueCat...

...he's been coaching them up. :)

Funny that the Rams were #1 and then they essentially lost their only playoff game because of ST miscues.

IIRC, they lost a couple of their top ST guys to injury late in the regular season.

This makes me think that stats for big plays would be one of the most important when evaluating ST.

Slater had a game last season in which he downed 3 punts inside the 10-yd-line, two of those inside the 5. Three truly big plays. No stats for that. Not even for Allen for helping to make it possible. The first two were barely mentioned by the broadcast booth.

When the mediots start paying attention to more than just the big returns, perhaps fans will understand and appreciate ST more. Although that's not likely to happen. Ever.
