I wasn't here online last year or the year before and listened to draft on sattelite radio two years ago. I'm wondering how many of you rabid fans had Vince on their radar screens and wishlists. Was he as big a surprise to you all available at 21 as me? Just wonderin'...... :rocker:

Wilfork was the single, #1 guy I wanted in that draft. I was stunned as he fell to #21.

Absolutely a most pleasant surprise - hoping for some of that same magic the end of the month.........

He wasn't on my list because he was rated no lower than #12 on any board that I saw.

He became part of my list when he dropped after the 18th pick.

Wishlist, sure. Realistic expectation ? Nope.

He was the guy that I thought would be a perfect fit for the Pats but i thought that he would get selected way before we picked.

He was on my list here...but that's because I was predicting a trade up! #21 was a very, very pleasant surprise.

Which reminds me, who ran that contest last year? The idea was to name the same number of players as the Pats had draft picks, but without specifying rounds. Made for some interesting strategy...you could predict a full draft, or load up at one or two target positions. (And best of all, those of us who liked Logan Mankins in round 2 got full credit! :snob: )

twas me patchick...started a few years back...if I recall, you won did you not?

I had Wilfork on my wishlist...

I didn't have Wilfork (thought he would be long gone), but I had Watson at 32! (can't miss an opportunity to toot my own horn on that one again ).

I agree and when the Pats turn to pick came up I'm like you got to be kidding me We just lost big Ted and getting a much younger replacement and I feel something like that will happen in this draft also.

I didn't have Wilfork on the radar... he wasn't even on my board. I blacklisted him for playing at Miami.

Even though we had already traded for Corey Dillon, I was still pretty excited that Steven Jackson was available at #21. However, I knew the whole time our clock was going we would take Vince and even though I was a bit disappointed not to hear Jackson's name, my reaction was, "Yeah, smart move."

I was shocked that either of them were there and I'm very happy with the Vince pick.

I like what Sean Salsbury said after the draft: "The Patriots getting Wilfork at #21 is legalized theft."

Of course, forgive my lousy memory!

Planning on hosting again this year? One thing I love about that contest is the humility it forces on us all...has anybody ever picked more than 2 or 3 right?

I wanted Wilfork since the year before he entered the draft. I was hoping he'd come out early, but was ecstatic when we ended up getting him after all.

I'll wrap my head around it this weekend, so long as you promise to not embarass us too much this year!

Some of us were in the chat room...it was alot of laughs. Wilfork was on my list but I also selected a safer pick which was a CB. I was going nuts with each teams selection and naturally estatic when we selcted him.

BIG DADDY...was the shout of the day...it was a great pick. Some boards had him in the top-10 even. :singing:

I am trying really, really, really hard to visualize A.J. Hawk available at 21 and simply cannot see it happening. God, would we love to grab him! Wow. Great perspective...... Flutie2! How about Vernon Davis failing to 21? Not that we are TE hungry but.......

I thought the green/purple swirl blouse, yellow/blue plad skirt, neon red cowgirl hat, hiking boots with rainbow knee socks, and pink hornrim sunglasses was quite fetching. Really, for a gentleman who needs snow goggles to dim the red glow your much too sensative to other's foibles.

Like many, I just did not think he'd be around, but it was an odd year..and he fell... (I did mention a possibility of that in a 12thman story I wrote before the draft that year...basically how the RB pick had changed and that they might be looking at Wilfork, Hall or Vilma....) I would NOT say I even predicted it..but he was the perfect fit!! Sometimes things change..and bad picks are made and or there is a run of players in a position and player falls...Will that happen this year??
I doubt many had 3 picks out of a bunch..I think last year Miguel had 2...
