What you rather have an 18 game regular season, or a 14 team playoffs format?

Neither. I'd rather they go to two bye weeks per team to get that extra week of revenue. Or as I've suggested before one of the byes is more like two weeks where there's extra rest.

For example NE @ Miami

week 3 they both play whoever
week 4 Sunday neither play
week 4.5 on Thursday they play each other on 11 days rest
week 5 Sunday neither play
week 6 they both play whoever on 10 days rest

That way there's no more of this 3 days off and playing Thursday which should help at last a bit with injuries.

18 game season

A 14 team playoff would have way too many undeserving teams in it

i dont like any of the choices. i say no to all. keep it the way it is.

I don't like either honestly. But the extra playoff game is a lesser evil compared to two more regular season games. Think about it, an extra playoff game impacts two teams for 1 additional game.

But 2 extra regular season games results in 2 more games for all 32 teams, so it's pretty much a 64 game impact of additional wear on tear on all athletes in the NFL.

I really hope there is no regular season schedule expansion. But who knows what will happen in "Goodell's NFL" 10 years from now. I wish someone would fire that mook, but nobody wants to rock the boat when the NFL has become so profitable.

I dislike both proposals. You need a poll option for that.

14 team playoffs.

While, yes, an arbitrary expansion of the playoffs would likely allow mediocre (or even bad) teams in, I think they'd be ousted quickly with little impact to the game

Conversely, the Patriots have been left out of the current playoff structure with an 11-5 record (apparently many Patsfans have forgotten about that)

I'd rather have a system that allows a deserving team in than keeps a deserving team out as we currently have. The mediocre to bad teams will take care of themselves.

Given the wear and tear of the current 16 game season watering down talent via injuries now, an 18 game season would make that even worse. They'd have to expand rosters and by the time a team reached the playoffs you'd have all 2nd, 3rd and even 4th stringers on the team - fans wouldn't recognize half the names.

That's just my opinion - it's an easy choice.

Although none of these proposals would likely impact the Brady era, if it did I could see a strong team with a smart coach like the Patriots, virtually assured of making the playoffs, being much more strategic with injured players

Right now with limited playoff teams, every game counts, in terms of making the playoffs and seedings

If the Patriots were virtually assured of making the playoffs, I wouldn't fault Belichick for keeping his essential players out for certain games to ensure they are healthy for the playoffs, when it makes a difference.

That itself could alter or water down the game, but such that nearly every player is feeling some form of injury towards the end of the season, Belichick or any other coach would be justified in being cautious knowing the playoffs were virtually assured as of mid season.

Classic manufacturing consent by offering a horrible option, and then an option that is also horrible, but less horrible than the first. Then acting as if those are the only two choices. this does seem to be what the league is doing to the players. greedy flapdarts.

Where the heck is the none of the above option!

I would rather have the 14-team playoff. Adding two regular season games to an already grueling schedule just increases the chance for injury. But the NFL is working to reduce the injuries, right?
