I feel like there's no excuse other than injuries for this team to not win at least 9 games and I'm being generous. The talent level in the NFL is not what it used to be and you have plenty of garbage teams winning more games than they should. The Commanders are trash and they won 12 games. The Bills somehow keep winning more than 10 games per year and their WR's make the Pats WR's we complained about during the dynasty years looks like All Pro's. The Pats won 10 games in 2021 and that roster was bad.

No excuses.

This is ********. They were one of the worst team’s in football last season, and an optimistic projection for them is 9 wins. Calling that the minimum that’s acceptable is a deliberate attempt at setting them up to fail.

I love their offseason, coaching changes, and all the optimism surrounding them, and I’m hoping they are in the Wild Card race in December, but I’m sure as hell not going to label them as underachievers if they don’t reach that goal.

And so where the Commanders in 2023, but won 12 games in 2024 with a rookie QB. The 2022 Texans were one of the worst teams in...

I saw the Athlon magazine at the grocery store yesterday. I immediately flipped to the AFC predictions. Where do they have the Pats? Last place. Who represents the AFC in the Super Bowl? The Bills. That gave me a good laugh and put the magazine back and walked away. This has to be the weirdest era I've seen watching sports. I see teams getting worse, but their expectations get higher (Bills).

Pats are going to surprise this season. I voted 9-11 wins. Look for a heavy dose of the ground game to loosen up the coverage for Diggs and others. Lots of play action and roll outs for Maye to give...

I had them at 10-11. It was partly the schedule but more that the roster and staff were so different than last year. It made no sense to peg this year's record based on last year's record.

After free agency and the draft in July this was a very talented team. They were young sure, but talented. If you had faith in Vrabel, McD and the coaches to develop the youth then you predicted a winning team.

“Talent” is the entire roster, it’s all three phases, all units… too many people judge talent based on fantasy football rosters alone and don’t look at the big picture.

It starts with line play on both sides of the ball, then QB… if you have that you can figure out the rest. The big uglies allow everyone else shine. These were never the 32nd worst “weapons” in the NFL… they needed blocking like everyone else does.

I had them pegged at 8 or 9 wins and I would have been happy. Rebuilding often takes years but to go for 10 more wins than last year in an "any Given Sunday" league is super impressive. Raiders must be thankful they played the Pats early in the season or it would have been like last Sunday in term of a blowout. No matter what happens going forward, this is a successful year and the rest is gravy.

Bout to finish the season 14-3 is it house money anymore when we're legitimate SB contenders? I'm gonna feel pretty bummed if the season ends anywhere short of the AFCCG despite predicting 9 or 10 wins and a wildcard

In the Slightly_Less_Wayback_Machine I found this one from early November, looking for a mid-season recap and update. It’s fun to review.

Adjusted Expectations?

It contains the only prediction I remembered making, which wasn’t totally correct but I’m hopeful also not totally incorrect. I’m now hoping that even though I missed on the losses it was only by one, and I still got the number of wins correct. That works if we don’t get the bye, as I was assuming then and now looks unlikely.
