Bigger Picture Story Not Being Discussed Enough Regarding Vrabel/Russini

The part where Kraft has reportedly been involved in trying to squash the story definitely bothers me more than anything else.

Just remember the media mostly has backed off discussing this until now. So does that mean they were following orders from Kraft? I understand there is the media member as part of the story aspect of it so it could just be they didn't want to throw rocks from their glass houses.

But now we know its been going on for 6 years? Something tells me this has an even bigger conspiracy theory that involves Kraft and for the that matter Tom Brady if you will indulge me.

Remember that Diana was the one who had the "insider info" that Tom wasnt coming to play for Mike in Tennessee? That same day is when those new photos were apparently taken.

Years later Tom hangs them up and expresses interest in partial ownership of the Pats but Kraft rejects him. He goes to Vegas instead.

Vrabel goes on to lead the Pats to the super bowl and Tom couldn't find it in his heart to root for his old team. Either Tom is jealous or he is spiteful to Kraft for not letting him be part owner. Or both?

Perhaps Asante was onto something...

We'll see if she's smart enough to not have it tied back to her.

Neither bothers me all that much my self. I don't care what Vrabel does in his personal life. Even if I find it morally corrupt. We all make mistakes.

That's why I take issue with his statement that he's going off to work on himself or whatever it is he said last night. I don't believe it.

I don't think everything needs a nefarious backstory to it. Gossip columnists find scandalous story, they reach out to people for comment. Kraft knows it's a bad look for the coach of his team so he tries to squash it using his financial resources.

Maybe the SPORTS media stayed away from it because of Kraft, but they also stayed away from the Cardi B/Diggs drama last year. So it's more likely that it was simply because these aren't really SPORTS stories. With Russini maybe there is a sports aspect to it, but sports reporters aren't really in the business of reporting on extramarital affairs.

The story gained so much traction on social media that Vrabel had to address it and now that he's missing a draft day it's a real sports related story so the football reporters are commenting now.

First, head coaches have used friends in the media to push their agenda for decades. Albert Breer is close friends with Sean McVay. They aren't having a sexual relationship, but don't kid yourself that McVay doesn't feed information to Breer he wants out there to manipulate a story. It happens all the time. The only difference with Vrabel and Russini is the friendship was romantic.

Second, Vrabel left the Patriots on not the best of terms. Word was Kraft wasn't happy about Vrabel's comments about the CBA and Vrabel wasn't happy he was shipped off to KC as a throw-in for the Matt Cassel trade. We don't even know if Kraft and Vrabel were even speaking to each other in 2020.

Third, I doubt Vrabel would want to get involved in any crap throwing between Brady and Belichick/Kraft as the head coach of another team.

Fourth, Brady bought his shares of the Raiders for a sweetheart deal that grossly undervalued the franchise. Kraft isn't going to sell part of the Patriots for pennies on the dollar. Brady and his business partner needed to purchase 10% of the team to have a voting share of the team. They bought the 10% of the Raiders for what it would take to buy like 2-3% of the Patriots.

I am sure any story Russini got relating to Vrabel and whatever team he was coach was through her relationship with Vrabel, but I don't think anything that Vrabel leaked to her in 2020 had anything to do with the Pats or Kraft.

Of course Kraft has lawyers to mitigate publicity issues with his companies and the Patriots. All teams do. There..I talked about it again.

BTW, if the OP is suggesting that Brady is behind this scandal, I doubt it. If any owner is behind hiring the PI and making this a scandal, it is Amy Adams Strunk. She hates Vrabel to the core. I could see her trying to tank Vrabel's career with an affair scandal. Although without evidence otherwise, I don't know if I believe she is behind it either.

They buried things like video of players knocking out their girlfriend on elevators. An affair between a coach and reporter doesn't even move the needle for them.

I hadn't thought of that. Very possible!
