Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

So I’ve definitely been of the opinion that rooting for any New York team, especially the Knicks deserves some type of major punishment. That said it is really truly hard to root for the Spurs. This team is a bunch of losers and idiots. As I already went through before, it is really an undeserving franchise that just tanked and got extremely lucky for numerous top five picks. All of their players look like morons down the stretch and play dumb basketball. They seem to just rely on athleticism and talent, regardless of the situation. D’Aaron Fox should be tarred and feathered. Wemby gets Tim Duncan comparisons but he’s now thrown away one game and missed two key free throws in another.

Yeah, of course I hate the Knicks, but they strike a cord in anyone right now. You forget they’re professional athletes because they’re grinding it out and playing a game the way it should be played. Full effort, complementary team basketball, role players stepping up, smart, play down the stretch, willing victories.

Will just have to accept that the Knicks are gonna win the championship. You’re welcome to use my cope to help you through these times.

He hit on my sister on an airplane back in '85/'86. He was telling her "I'm a professional athlete" and so on. Didn't work. She had to call me and ask who he was, since she pays no attention to sports (except that she always liked to say the name Scottie Pippen for some reason).
Scottie Pippen slays with women maybe it’s his name

Right there with you. I cannot bring myself to root for the Pricks but I like the way they play the game.

Such a horrible decision by Fox. Spurs have no one to stop OG. They will get a 4 in the off-season and it will be scary but this series is a wrap

Agreed, When Bridges, Brunson and Hart were all at Villanova, they were a likeable bunch. That being said I turned the game off last night when Spurs were up by 19 ( after a 10-0 Knicks run) because I knew that the Knicks were going to win. Spurs made the same mistake the Celtics did last year vs Knicks. When the 3 pointers weren't falling, instead of driving the lane they kept shooting and missing the 3's. live and die with them....

I can never pull for a NY team but damn it was hard rooting for the Spurs.
They play a lot of stupid basketball.
The Knicks dont.

For the record, agreed on respecting the Knicks' style of play, and living in NY I have friends and co-workers who are deliriously happy right now.

And all I want is for the Spurs to win 3 straight and rip their hearts out and destroy their lives. That is all.

The bricklaying (In Game 7, he struggled heavily with his shot, going 2-for-18 from the field and 0-for-11 from three-point range) John Starks enters the room...

I remember looking at the box score at halftime and thinking, "don't keep shooting threes unless you wanna be ignorant regression to the mean types."

Can't frickin' stand watching Jeter and Eli rooting for these guys, so I'm rooting for Wemby (in a lost cause at this point), but even I rooted for these Pantyhose Jackwads once upon a time bcz of Lin, and if you can connect the dots, then you know why.

I'm rooting for the Knicks because.....
I like Brunson
I despise the French Gumby. He is displeasing to the senses

And I hope the Celtics are paying attention to the Knicks winning formula: 13 less 3 pt attempts/gm compared to Boston's one losing (launch party) playoff series (33 vs 46)

I lived in NYC for 10 yrs working for a firm that had amazing season tickets to all the pro sports teams, and I practically lived at MSG and Yankee stadium though it was always surreal being a Boston fan while living and attending NY games.
Anyway, what I learned during that time.....
Jets and Mets fans are mutants, and mutants do not deserve good things.
The level of entitlement on display by Yankee fans was off the charts, even when losing. A hateable fanbase.
Giants fans are boring old men
Knicks fans were solid and invested once you get past celebrity row, though they were always overly optimistic.
Ranger fans were great and MSG was always electric.

Eff the Spurs

Did I see right last night? The Spurs had a one point lead and the ball with about 10 seconds left and rushed it to the hoop for a missed layup?

That play and the Wemby turnover at the end of game #2 are two of the dumbest plays at crucial times that I've seen.

Interesting news on the Giannis talk - mainly that he's said to be open to signing long term with the Celts for the 4 year $275 max after his contract is up

While it does come down to where he most wants to trade, it'll be interesting because Miami is said to be offering a trade package built around Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware and three first-round picks which has to be interested in a rebuilding team.

I still wouldn't think of this as the Celts having to give up more than Brown, though I would think there'd have to be a third team like Atlanta, which is where Brown is from, who could ship a package like that to the Bucks and get Brown

Am hoping Miami doesn't get him though - if he's healthy he makes the Celts an instant contender even with the rest of the current roster.

Just a question of whether a lesser cheaper C can get that same job done with Brown still on the team
