Every Brady TD, Mapped

How the hell did you do this, in a data science sense? Did you enter the data by hand? How much memory does all that take up?

Pretty much. I made the website a few years ago, and have been adding in each game as they happened. Then I kept adding to it: more stats, more plays, more highlights.

For this most recent visualization, I created an interface that let me easily (relatively speaking) update each Brady TD play with all the pertinent information.

Once that was all entered into the site it was just a matter of drawing each line in code and matching up the video.

As for storage, data doesn't take up much room and all of the gifs are hosted at gfycat. Having said that, all the video clips that have been uploaded to gfycat amount to almost 100GB of video

I think that it is great work but I also think that it is ridiculous that we are still seeing new Brady threads in this section. Apparently, some here never want to move on from Tommy.

This is actually a really good topic about our former QB. Love to reminisce about the GOAT’s career here.

Much better than topics or posts that trash Belichick, twists themselves into knots trying to convince us Belichick is a bad football coach without Brady like it’s a fact, hope guys like Stidham fail, rate dislike anything that supports the QBs we have, hope this team crashes and burns without Brady, insist that 2020 Brady is the only difference between a SB win for this team and winning 2 games, deny the facts that Brady had a poor season last year, salivate and wave pom poms for #Tommy’s new team, TB12, etc. All of which have appeared here over the last few months from Bradyites.

Oh and accusing other Pats fans of “hating” Brady. That one is my favorite!

Wow you are a true hero. Great job! Very cool interface you developed!

@brdmaverick got it first try! It was a Brady to Watson short pass over the middle that went for 63 yards vs the Jaguars in the 2005 Wildcard game.

And to address @Patsgofor4, the reason I'm putting these out now is that they're finished. Brady isn't going to throw any more TDs for the Patriots, so it felt like the right time to put this together. And it's taken a while to get every highlight from each game, as well as entering all of this info into the system.

I can certainly appreciate how much work this took.

I mean, you don't just list the length of each TD, you mark the position on the field where Brady threw the ball and the position where the receiver caught it. Very impressive.

I always thought the David Patten one against Pittsburgh was the longest...how bout that?

You must be thinking Branch, b/c I don't recall Patten catching a TD from Brady against PIT.

Branch definitely had a long TD reception against PIT though. I can't recall the exact yardage.

It was 60 yards (45 air yards) right after a 4th down stop by the defense

Let me get this straight, Tom Brady is not only the greatest quarterback in Patriots history but in NFL history, won us 6 Super Bowl titles, and we should act like he's 'dead to us' just because he is no longer a Patriot?!?!?!

The guy leaves behind the ultimately legacy that should still be a fair topic for discussion.
