Burkhead's deal redone

I love when that guy is on the field

He's our most versatile RB...productive when healthy...I've never cut him when making roster projections, and certainly not in order to keep one of LaGlasse/Izzo...

Hopefully he's learned by now...

He’s a very valuable weapon, does it all. Probably means he won’t be cut. I also wish the extra cap space means we can trade for Njoku. But I have no idea if Belichick has any interest in him. Would love to see it though. Njoku, Asiasi & Keene would be an interesting group of TEs.

While I love the idea of having Njoku, this was done exclusively to gain some in season cap for emergency/injury signings.

Only a Thuney deal could potentially clear enough cap for a major trade/signing.

Classic Patsfans.com opinion post written as though it is a fact. Unless this is Bill, Nick, Eliot or Ernie, you don't know the motivation for Burkhead restructuring, despite your confident statement.

Also, are you saying that a Njoku trade wouldn't be a major trade or that the Burkhead restructuring wouldn't give them adequate cap space, because posters have already explained in another thread that the changes to Burkhead's contract gives them just enough space to fit Njoku under the cap at this point in the offseason.

Finally, as Miguel and others have pointed out on several occasions, the Pats could create several million in cap space by restructuring other vets contracts, if they were motivated to do so. A Thuney deal is NOT the only way to skin that cat.

Otherwise, your post was perfect.

Completely agree and just to clarify I am NOT Bill, Nick, Eliot nor Ernie...I am NOT Tom Brady either, but a man can dream...

Kind of figured that this is an obvious assumption for a poster on patsfans.com but I guess the jury is still out on that one...

It may be possible to fit someone under the cap, but there is always an in-season need to sign a veteran for which cap dollars would be required...now to be fair that is just my opinion but it is also pretty consistent with the last 25 years of the NFL...

To answer your question I would consider an Njoku trade "marginally" major, something below the acquisition of Randy Moss but above the acquisition of Doug Gabriel.

Just to be completely clear I am NOT Bill, Nick, Eliot nor Ernie...

HOW DARE YOU STATE AN OPINION ON A MESSAGE BOARD!

Good move by Burkhead. It was a “pay cut” or “get cut” type deal.
