Not quite Shane Lechler yet, but what a fine rookie season. After last years phenomenal performance by Allen in the Superbowl was kind of shocked by the pick. But so so far he is earning the draft capital to get him for sure.

As an aside, there are a decent number of punters who can do kickoffs (e.g., Pat McAfee), but not many kickers who can punt.

As an example, Vinatieri nearly derailed his career in college(?) because they tried to turn him into a kicker-punter.

By the same token, Gostkowski was able to fill in at punter when Allen got hurt, but the Patriots didn't want to have him do that long-term.
