Hate to break it to you, but football's a business. They gave him a great contract and he would have been stupid not to take it. (Especially after Kraft was playing hardball after Martin vastly outperformed his rookie contract).

IIRC Martin's offer was like 2-3m a year for 6 years. Which is like, not that much more than Parcells gave to Dave Meggett like 3 years earlier.
