that the NFL essentially uses what it assumes to be "all-star" crews for playoffs, and doesn't take the highest rated crews and keep them together

no MAJOR issues yesterday, but you can tell the crews aren't used to each other and it slows down calls, etc

I totally agree -- it's almost like playing the Superbowl between the AFC and NFC probowlers. Teams are teams, for officials as well as players. How can you expect to be on the same page when you've never worked together before?

Exactly.

They should grade officials individually for purposes of promotion, demotion, and firing. But they should also have team grades and use those for playoff assignments.

Doing that would also incent good refs on bad teams to make some noise about being surrounded by crap.

Its beyond dumb. So glad Blandinko is working hard to improve the officiating. Moron.

What is particularly astounding is that years ago, no one really cared who the refs/ref crews were because there was a certain expectation that they'd be fair and do their jobs. But the fact that a website exists called Football Zebras
(Assignments – Football Zebras) that posts the ref crews BEFORE games now, and that people know these guys BY NAME is unbelievable.
