Figured I'd toss this out there since Romo is back at practice this week and the Cowboys now have a QB controversy that Jerry Jones, for whatever reason, decided to start. We have experience going through this with Brady and Bledsoe. So what say you? Go with the veteran or ride the hot hand?

Stick with Dak, trade Romo

I would stick with the rookie too and let him continue to develop. But who would take on Romo's contract with his back issues while giving up compensation to the Cowboys?

Idk his contract numbers but take it he would have to restructure

Stick with Dak, trade Romo

If we compare this to the Brady/Bledsoe ordeal, you keep Romo as back up so he can help win a playoff game when Dak goes down for half a game.

Dak.

Financially it would be stupid for Dallas to keep Romo.

There is also a possibility that due to his affinity for the club, Romo could allow the club to release him as what was formerly known as a June 1st cap casualty. If that were the case, then only the 2017 prorated bonus amount ($10.7 million) would hit the cap next year, giving Dallas the savings of Romo’s entire 2017 base salary, $14 million.

If that were the case, then the $8.9 million prorated amounts for 2018 and 2019 would then be on the 2018 salary cap as dead money.

That would mean the Cowboys would save $10.6 million on the 2018 cap, and still the same $23.7 million in 2019 space.

Salary cap math of Cowboys moving from QB Tony Romo to Dak Prescott

Wish we would of took Dak instead of Jacoby we would have been set, we could of traded Jimmy by now for a high pick/picks and have a legit QB starter under contract thru 2019 season

Agree Dak was the QB I liked the most in the draft.
Just reading about the guy he reminded me of a winner.
Him and Mariota are the 2 best young QBs in football

How do you even turn away from Dak at this point? I don't see how this is even debatable.
Jerry Jones said Romo is basically their guy and they're apparently good friends. It shouldn't be debateable, but this is Dallas we're talking about.

Romo has always been a dumb QB and is not elite. This is an easy decision

I can't believe this is even a controversy anywhere in the NFL, let alone within the Cowboys organization. Have they learned nothing from the bold moves of BB in replacing Bledsoe with Brady? You stay with the hot hand (not to mention the younger, healthier one), period. The Cowboys have an even easier decision, frankly, as Romo is a walking ambulance ride waiting to happen. If a defense breathes on him he breaks, somewhere (seriously, does the guy have brittle bone disease or something?). They've been given the perfect opportunity and path to move on from Romo, something they should have done several years ago anyway. They can even trade Romo (and get something for him) in the off season to some poor team that will be duped by his good stats and assurances that all those bone breaks are just "bad breaks" and not a systemic problem. Sheesh.

Dak. Trade or dump romo in the offseason.

I expect Jerry will hold fast in the hopes Dak has a bad game, and then pulls a Denver from last year. Jerry's all about fans and money, and there seems to be a lot of noise in Texas backing Dak.

The absurdity here is the offensive line is playing like it did two years ago before it disappeared last year. Romo looked great then, and Dak looks like a champ now. Romo did not get hammered into the dirt last year because the line was doing its job.

The big question, as it was with Bledsoe and Brady, would be is the team playing better because it has a rookie and needs to step up? (given the whining about Dez Bryant's non-catch in the playoffs throughout last season (IMO justifiable), last year could well have been a extended hangover with the "I could have been a contender" mentality) Even when Bledsoe stepped in with the Steelers, receivers who were not dropping passes with Brady dropped passes from Bledsoe.

Shrinks in big moments - check.
Significant injuries mounting - check.
Young, up and coming QB who has shown enormous aptitude and potential - check.
Meddling owner with NFI what he's doing - check.

Stick with your guy Romo. You know it makes sense Jerruh.

as a pats fan, i would say Romo. dak leading the cowboys to the super bowl this year could pose a tough match up for us.
