So simple even I can understand it. Thanks!

Thanks, Miguel. Echoing another poster's sentiments, it's clear enough that even I can understand it.

Plus, an effing brilliant FU to the NFL is hidden in this deal. Should the Appellate Court overturn Judge Berman and should Goodell keep the suspension in place, the extension saves Brady nearly two million.

Q: How does this extension help Brady if he is suspended?

A: It lowers his possible exposure. Players are paid weekly. If suspended for 4 games at a 9 million salary Brady would have lost $2,117,647 in salary. If suspended for 4 games at a 1 million salary, Brady would lose $235,924. -

Two part Question for Miguel:
Based on your extensive knowledge of NFL contracts:
a) Is there any precedent for the League, which must approve all contracts, not allowing this contract because of what could be perceived as an attempt to limit the impact of a Suspension on Brady?
b) If there is no precedent, what do you think the chances are that the palpably corrupt League Office would try to pull a stunt like this?

1.) No.
2.) None

I think Miguel is the only one that I give non-sarcastic 'useful' ratings to.

So let me get this straight.....we get cap relief of $3 between this year and next but in return we lose $14M in cap space through dead money the following 2 years if Brady doesn't play.

I'm not sure how this is a "good" deal for us. Last time I checked 3M-14M = -11M.

Actually living through my 41st and 42 birthday, I find it hard to believe that Brady will play at a level that no QB has ever played in the history of the game. Yes, he is the GOAT but he is still a human being.

The only thing I can think of is that this is "make-up" compensation which is disappointing since I had lauded Brady for taking less money to make the team better.

I'm open to alternative theories (or correction of my "numbers") but right now I'm having a tough time seeing another realistic alternative scenario.

Anyone else here wish Miguel would stop equivocating?
He's a man of few words. I'll often email him and I also receive similar short responses. He's always quite succinct

Maybe...

...maybe not.
