Tom Brady tells Derek Jeter Patriots ‘blew it’ in AFC championship game loss to Broncos

That was pretty cool.

I'm a total closet Jeter fan.

9 Rings between them.

I'm not a closet Jeter fan. I despise the Yankees but he was an outlier. Much like I'd probably respect Mantle if I were around then. Jeter was a competitor just like Brady.

Edit: Hopefully soon it will be 10 rings

Well, that's what happens when you blow games in Denver with a 14-point lead, at home against the lowly Eagles with a 14-point lead, defer in overtime in New Jersey against the Jets, treat the final regular season game in Miami like a pre-season game (with home field on the line, by the way), then choose to not even work on your snap count for another away game in Denver.

This entire season came be summed up with those words. Some can make excuses and say it was injuries that caught up, but I don't buy that whatsoever.

Every single loss this past season was extremely winnable. And in most cases, the team had a lead in those games and well..."blew it".

Yep. IMO guys like Jeter are above team allegiances. As their careers go on, you just learn to appreciate their accomplishments and respect how they play the game. I realized it my hatred of Jeter was based on jealousy, I was the same way with Magic Johnson as well but that was more based on the Bird/Magic dynamic. Once those two started to become friendly and Bird was in decline, I really started to appreciate what Magic was and what he meant to the game

I can't prove it but I do think football fans are coming around on Brady. There will always be the hating idiots but I think eventually people will recognize what this whole Deflategate thing really is....a bag job.

FYI- My dad is 71 and while a die hard Sox fan he loved 'The Mick".

Jeter and Mariano both.

The greatness and class of Mariano added to Big Papi's 2004 ALCS game 4 walk off. I thought that game was over when Sandman came in.

I streamed that event this afternoon and it was very cool to see Brady, Jeter, and Jim Harbaugh all hanging out together. Even Ric Flair showed up later.

Very cool. One criticism I have is for those two dumb kids. I get they're baseball fans and want to meet Jeter, but Tom F'ing Brady is just awkwardly standing there and the opportunity was there to meet him and get his autograph and you don't even take the opportunity. Sheesh,

Nice quote from Michigan QB recruit Brandon Peters on Brady:

"I was not expecting something like this, something so big," said new quarterback Brandon Peters, who was introduced to the crowd by Brady. "I've always looked up to Tom Brady. It was kind of breathtaking meeting him. Sitting there with him and shaking his hand was pretty awesome."

I feel the same way about Jeter that any self-respecting football fan should feel about Brady. I hated his team, I certainly never rooted for him because of it, but I respected the hell out of him for how good he was, how he played, and every indication we have suggesting that at a minimum he's a decent guy.

The fact that so many football fans can't do that for Brady just cements what I already knew to be true: that they all suck and can never be as awesome as me.

btw @trevrox, that Brady picture that you're using is one of the creepier things I've seen. He looks like a robot trying to mimic human happiness.

I'd have upchucked.

It's a credit to the Patriots that they're generally in positions to win games. Supporters of many teams wet their pants when they're in a position to win a game.
