Gift of Gronk

“It definitely means something that their Make-A-Wish is to come meet you,” Gronk said. “You see them when they come over with their families, not just the kids but their families, and you see the big smiles on their faces, taking pictures the whole time, enjoying that moment.

“They could talk about it the whole next day or in the days and months and years to come. You can definitely see it’s impactful on their lives, and it makes you feel good about it.”

Good stuff!

Wherever he goes, he spreads his Gronkitude and Gronkliness.

He's Gronkerrific!!!!

Gronk gets it. His parents did right.

The man has a big heart.

Reading articles like this and I STILL can't stop flashing back to when people were frustrated with his partying ways and wondering why he couldn't be more mature like Aaron Hernandez.

It's like the ultimate facepalm.

Honestly, I was concerned about the same thing. I was wrong, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we weren't justified in being worried about his frat boy reputation. Once I saw the Patriots draft him, though, I figured he had more to him than I could see from the outside. I'm glad it worked out!

The partying was creating a perception that he wasn't a hard worker and wasn't as intense about his job as people thought he should. For example, after the SB he was out dancing. During his rehab, he was dancing and out drunk, etc. All things a man in his early 20s do.

Gronk lives life to the fullest. I don't think people quite got that nor understood that he budgets his time well and is incredibly hard working.

The man just needs to burn off steam and have a good time.

I've met him before. I can't believe how nice he is. I showed up to a party with a mutual friend and just by knowing his friend he came back up to me a few times to make sure I was having a good time.

His partying didn't "create perceptions". People formed their own, wrong perceptions based on images of his partying.

As people routinely do, by projecting their expectations as perceptions.

Semantics
It is more than just semantics. One lays the responsibility of the wrong perceptions on Gronk's actions. The other lays it at the feet of those who jump to conclusions.

Right or wrong walking around drunk does that.

I would argue that it is peoples' tendency to rush to judgement that does. I think it is an important distinction.

Do you think the Pats had a convo w Gronk and made him aware how his public actions might be perceived and how it may reflect on him the NEP?

I never had this perception.......you can go back and check.......in fact, you'll probably find several instances where I blasted you for this notion......and voila....YOU WERE WRONG ABOUT HIM

outside of this

On the football side, Gronkowski recounts how he thought quarterback Tom Brady hated him during Gronkowski’s rookie year and shares an anecdote about coach Bill Belichick that explains why the party has kept going for Gronkowski in the NFL. Gronkowski recalls a conversation with the head coach about how he was spending his free time that featured Gronkowski telling the coach that “the fun stuff makes me grind harder.”

“He shook his head and walked away and said, ‘Whatever works for you…'” Gronkowski wrote, via the Boston Herald.

Belichick’s response has worked out well for the Patriots, bar owners and, come Tuesday, the readers of America.

NO......

Easy.

I never said about Gronk. Ever.

I stated how the perception was developed.

the perception was not developed..........the people who revere the 'patriot way' as some sort of gospel were all over his case back then (including yourself)

too bad the lot of you are misinformed on what the patriot way is

I suspect they have that talk with all the rookies and FAs. I'm not sure if they had a 1 on 1 with Gronk after some of his antics, and I hope they didn't.

I'm not implying that we shouldn't be aware how others may perceive us, but he was just celebrating and being a goofball. It's not like he was beating women or making racist comments. People are way to judgmental, and to criticize Gronk for being a good natured goofball, when he's off the clock, crosses the line in my book.
