Very thin @ CB.. Will a trade for an experienced CB be viable?

I want Sean Smith on this team, very very badly

My concern is how heavily will the Pats weigh his DUI charge?

Probably about the same as they viewed Aqib Talib's car troubles....
Good point. IIRC Branch and a couple of other players on the roster have been caught boozing in the car.

Thursday is the Patriots last game before the trade deadline. So, after Miami they'll have a few days off to re-evaluate their secondary

I saw a lot of Chiefs fans saying they don't think CB Sean Smith will get traded. Despite the perfect trade scenario (a player on the last year of his contract, on a struggling team) they think he hasn't lived up to expectations this year and that might help in re-signing him at a lower price, partially due to the fact they claim to have a lot of money to spend next off-season and also because: aside from a promising Marcus Peters - they don't have a whole lot at DB

Fan thoughts probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but I'm just throwing it out there

Hi...I saw your post. I'll trade you Sean Smith for Aaron Dobson. Deal?

-Chiefs GM (too lazy to look up his name)

And they have 4 COMP picks coming as well..
Yep. Don't think they can trade those. Even if they could Goody wouldn't allow it

That's OK, we can trade our real #3 as the Revis Comp will be single digits later. If we get good vets, I don't care how many of the tradeable picks we trade this year, to be honest, with no significant UFA after next this year.

The team currently sits 14th in opposing QBR with 89.2, 15th in yards with 358.7, and 12th in PPG with 21.0. A good amount of the above was from garbage team.

So far the D's performance in the 6 games suggest an above average defense with an average pass defense. A trade isn't necessary. This defense isn't 2011 or 2012/2013 without Talib.

A CB trade would be nice but Butler/Ryan/Coleman have been ok. They have 3 months to improve too.

That's just it. They haven't been ok. They've gotten away with poor play because the front 7 is playing so well against the pass, and because the opposing QBs have been a collection of stiffs that couldn't exploit the poor CB play.

I agree completely with you except for not trading for a CB. Like you said they have been average and unless they have the 2007 NYG front 4, that simply isn't good enough these days

They need a tested vet back there.

I'll try not to rehash the same arguments I've made in other threads, but if the coach has influence over personnel (which clearly Andy Reid does), why would a struggling Andy Reid, who wants to keep his job beyond this year, trade a player that is helping him now? It would be different if it was a player that was suspended, or injured, or a locker room cancer, or talented with future potential but still trying to figure it out, in all of this cases they aren't helping the coach now. If Smith is playing reasonably well and he might help Reid turn things around a bit this year, why would Reid trade him?

People whop want Smith will have to explain the cap math to me.
Sean Smith

Not sure what all the fuss is about when we have Patrick "The Eraser" Chung back there.
