This just out from the Globe:

Extra Points - New England Patriots News and Analysis - Boston.com

23 players listed on the report ... nearly half the team.

Vollmer (head) and Edelman (forearm) did not participate, in addition to Fred Taylor. Those could be major losses if they don't play.

On the good side Sammie Morris and Matt Light had limited participation.

Saints had less than half the number of players listed (9). If G Carl Nicks (did not practice due to illness) misses the game that could be a major loss.

HMM BB must be takeing this game Very seriously, to place so many people on the injury report and keep the Saint's guessing.....Just a thought.

At least he won't be accused of covering up injured players...

On the plus side, I believe this is the first time Neal and Jarvis Green have participated since being out. So that could be good news.

And perhaps Seabass is just getting a little extra healing time while they work Todd D) Light more to help get him back in the swing of things? This is my theory. My theory. Which is mine. :snob:

I think Edelman will be on that list every week going foreward. He was last week so its not too shocking.

So I guess Aiken is back? That will help if Edelman is out.

So who starts if Vollmer can't go and Light isn't ready yet?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could go through one year as healthy as other teams?

It's a bit harder to that when every team sees their game against you as the equivalent of a playoff game.

That was my first reaction as well.... I think we've seen this in the past, before big games (no specifics jump to my addled head).
Mind games, like the comparison to the "Greatest Show on Turf". That's a compliment and perhaps a foreshadowing of the end result come Monday night?

Yeah but I would be happy as long as the IR list is kept short. We're about to play game #11 and so far the only significant IR has been Tate if I recall correctly. That is very good for us IMO

How was this significant?

And what it is too. Thank you, Miss Elk.

Our health in 2007 was great. We won every regular season game.

what he said....:yeahthat:

Good to see Neal and Light participating, but that list is a murderer's row of injuries.

Limited participation doesn't mean anything. We have long injury reports because BB is careful with Patriots players. He may be holding them out of certain drills that could possibly aggravate a past injury.

How often do the majority, or even half, of these limited participation guys actually sit out on game day?

However, I have to say that if Vollmer is out on Monday, which increasingly looks like the case, we could be in real trouble. Light has not played in weeks even if he's healthy. LeVoir is a capable backup but that's it. This is a pretty surprising development for Vollmer since he returned to the game after his injury and played for a while.

Other than that, I think both Green and Morris are back this week. Warren should play; he played well against the Jets. Edelman will be in there. Banta-Cain will play and I think Neal will too. I don't think the news is as bad as it appears.

Vollmer has a "head" injury so I am going to go out on a limb and say he is concussed. With concusions being in the news lately - and with all the ill long term effects that multiple concussion may have - he's not practicing. My guess is that he will play Monday Night.
