Did the game in Athens this weekend and got to watch Brinkley up close.
First off he looks to be about 6'1" or 6'2" at best, but he is a legitimate 245 plus pounds. Decent speed for his size and has some quickness. Very physical player. Has a nose for contact. Vocal leader on the field. Really good at stiffing through the trash and finding the ball.
His instincts are not as good as I was hoping. The first step is not always true, and he got fooled a couple of times. Like most all college LB's his coverage skills could be better. I did not see him out there on special teams and we know BB prefers versatile guys.
The bottom line is he could be a 3-4 ILB and with a season or two of seasoning and instruction, could be a legit starter on our defense. He's not on the same level as Goff of Vandy when it comes to instincts and run stopping, but he is faster, quicker and better in coverage than Goff.
