'07 Florida shooting being probed....guess who

Wow, this web of destruction is going to have a huge fall out for the NFL and the Gators. Sounds like guys were just shooting people left and right and the victims/witnesses never came forward (mysteriously). No wonder Hernandez was so sloppy with the murder of Lloyd. Someone was always paying someone off to make it go away.

Urban Meyer got out at the right time!

There is no right time, if it comes out that he was making all of these (allegations) things go away!

There just going to pin all their unsolved things on Hernandez now that the have him.

What does this episode say about the Gainesville PD? The description matches AHern. AHern lawyers up immediately.......and then it gets dropped?
Happy Valley and Gainesville operating under the same set of rules

That's hard to prove though and they can't really suspend him at Ohio State.

How about this?

"Man who police wanted to talk to about Aaron Hernandez dies in car accident"

Y! SPORTS

It was a one-car accident, and the car was registered to Hernandez's uncle. I have no idea what this means: "The report said the car shot through the air and hit the Farmington Country Club six feet off the ground."

Could very well be just a coincidence, but this story is getter stranger by the minute.

No wonder Urban is taking the fifth regarding AHern. In a 5 month span, 17 year old freshman AHern punched out a bar worker after drinking as a minor and then gets questioned/implicated in an execution style shooting. Urban's phone must have been ringing off the hook nightly.
Interesting how...
1) Bar worker refused to press charges
2) Shooting victims changed stories
3) AHern lawyered up

Just one giant set of coincidences

As far as Meyer's job security in Columbus, he just better hope he never gets implicated in any Florida cover up. Ohio State just fired their president for making a bad joke about Notre Dame. In today's climate, no way a coach implicated in criminal cover ups at a former job survives....even at OSU.

On a side note, interesting news on Urban Meyer:

Sources: Urban Meyer alleged Florida committed a recruiting violation - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN

Urban Meyer's will to win burns with such competitive fire that he won't allow anyone to stand in his way on the recruiting trail.

Including, evidently, his former school and a former assistant coach.

Outkick the Coverage has learned from sources in New York that Meyer and Ohio State turned in Florida assistant coach Brian White for an alleged improper "bump" violation related to the recruitment of Curtis Samuel, a running back/defensive back from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Investigations into Ohio State's complaint this spring uncovered no wrongdoing, the sources said, but Samuel subsequently revealed Florida no longer is in his top five schools — while OSU is.

Meyer's willingness to turn in a former coach — one he hired — as well as the program he led for six seasons is unheard of in college athletics. Indeed, no one Outkick the Coverage talked with could recall a former coach turning in his former program and a former assistant coach.

A bump violation — a secondary NCAA offense — prohibits contact between coaches and players during non-contact periods of the recruiting calendar. An email to Ohio State seeking comment was not immediately returned Tuesday night.

"and hit the Farmington Country Club six feet off the ground"

What in the world does that mean?

The entire Big Ten hates Meyer. As soon as he arrived at OSU, he started targeting players that made verbal commitments to other schools.......one of those no no's in the unwritten rule category. Urban better be running a squeaky clean operation at OSU because he has a bullseye on him from a large enemies' list

Before we start hanging on every or any info...since when is ESPN Sources credible??

Some more on the University of Florida

A list of Florida Gators arrested during Urban Meyer's tenure - Orlando Sentinel

I had forgotten about Cam Newton starting his collegiate career there, and the laptop theft. The fact that the article above takes three pages to go through all the names and arrests says a lot.

Florida Gators arrest record under Urban Meyer chronicled by HBO, USA Today – Open Mike – Orlando Sentinel

Starting in 2009, the Orlando Sentinel compiled a list of Florida football players arrested or charged with a crime since coach Urban Meyer took over six years ago. The original list was published in June 2009 and has been updated with any cases since then. The vast majority of these players were represented by Huntley Johnson, a Gainesville lawyer who frequently defends UF athletes.

Florida says football arrests shouldn't define its program overall - USATODAY.com

“In a closing commentary on this week’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel on HBO, Gumbel compared Florida’s arrests with the agent-related violations that subjected Southern California to a two-year postseason ban and other stiff NCAA sanctions. Arguing that ‘driving drunk, robbing a convenience store, and hitting your girlfriend are all worse offenses than dealing with an agent,’ he took the NCAA to task for not dealing as sternly with the Gators and other programs with police-blotter problems.

“After Florida receiver Chris Rainey was booked last week on a felony charge of aggravated stalking — for allegedly sending an ex-girlfriend a threatening text message — Orlando columnist Mike Bianchi wrote, ‘Sadly, this outlaw reputation is now the national image of the Florida Gators … Tim Tebow is no longer around to clean up the mess.’ “

UF’s Arresting Problem « CBS Miami

Since 2005, a total of 44 players, including multiple star players, have been arrested for charges ranging from possession of alcohol by a minor to more serious felony charges.

Former Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer came to the school in 2005 and quickly remade UF’s team into a national championship-caliber team. But, Meyer’s tenure at UF was also marred by the reality that 30 of his players were arrested on various charges during his six years in Gainesville.

The list of arrests, compiled by the Orlando Sentinel, under Meyer was a who’s-who among Florida’s football players including: Chris Rainey (aggravated stalking); Matt Elam (possession of alcohol by a minor); Carlos Dunlap (DUI); Janoris Jenkins (resisting arrest without violence [also had problems with drugs]); Riley Cooper (resisting an officer and failure to comply with a police of fire department).

Cam Newton (felony counts of burglary, larceny; and obstruction of justice); Jermaine Cunningham (misdemeanor battery, later dropped); Brandon James (purchasing/possession of marijuana); and Louis Murphy (possession of marijuana, later dropped).

Before we start hanging on every or any info...since when is ESPN Sources credible??

Watch the video......read the documents......see his name on the documents........then blame ESPN????

I realize blaming the media for anything that goes against NE or a NE player is standard operating procedure on this site, so keep at it....whatever gets you through the day.

Yeah...it's not like the description matched his appearance

I go to Gainesville quite often during the college football season. The description matches a lot of peoples' appearances around that area, and in Florida as a whole.

And this from an AP article....

" Authorities have also linked Hernandez to a May 18 fight outside a bar in Providence, R.I., that involved a gun.

A prosecutor with the Bristol County district attorney's office has said that a man who matched the description of a man seen on video with Hernandez on the night of Lloyd's slaying was seen putting a gun under a car during the Rhode Island incident.

Authorities traced that gun to a Florida gun shop."

Urban Meyer got out at the right time!

Meyer brought IN those types of players. The Zook era sucked, as a Gator fan, but these run-ins with the police for the Gators weren't all that common before Meyer came aboard. People closed their eyes to it in the area because they were winning National Championships.

As for Meyer getting out at the right time, please. He left because he saw how tough the SEC had become for him without Tebow at the helm, had his doubts about being able to compete, then blamed some heart condition and left. Why do you think he came back with Ohio State instead of an SEC team?
