peter king's worst quote ever? re: Albert Haynesworth?

he said albert haynesworth (sp, i dont care)... should be fined 25K... what a moron!!! 25K to an NFL player is like a sandwich to a normal human... for those who missed it, he stepped on a helmetless players head, then, kicked his head... haynesworth should be disqualified from this season, if not forever... he should never be allowed to play in the nfl again.... this isnt coming from me, but from an nfl player close to us all...

i assume he was probably saying what the league would do...not his own idea...i may be wrong...

That is exactly what he was doing. It was his prediction of what will happen, not his recommendation.

Yes, I got the impression that he was saying what his sources tell him the NFL is likely to do.

25K is a joke to all NFL players... it is like $5 to you or me... AH should be banned for at LEAST a year, if not forever...

it is also a big mistake by king (a professional reporter) to suggest that minimal fine (25K? lol).... that play should be a career ender; no doubt... watch it. AH should be banned from the nfl forever. (from an NFL player who has to remain nameless)

It wasn't a suggestion either. It was what he believes the NFL will do based either on what he's already heard or their past track record.

He also reported that Fisher apologized profusely to Tuna after the game and told him that he will wait to see what the NFL does, and if in his opinion it is not sufficient the Titans will take it upon themselves to punish the player.

What Fisher should do, since the team isn't going anywhere and he'll be leaving after this season anyway, is cut him. And if that idiot GM Reese doesn't back him up then Fisher should quit before his reputation is ruined by association with that whole lame assed organization Givens couldn't wait to play for.

i agree.. he should be cut; cant think of any alternative; kind of disappointed that king didnt suggest that though.

ive always liked king, but for him to suggest a 25K fine (btw 25K is like piss on a piece of toast) on a play that will end up in a 1-year suspension (minimum), if not a career-ending play? wow, that makes no sense at all. maybe king is out of touch with the nfl? haynesworth's career just ended tonight. maybe king's should go with it?

I'm trying to be polite here, but I count three posts that have already explained this. He was not suggesting that this is an appropriate punishment; he was predicting that it is what will eventually come down from the League. He's still probably way off, but it was NOT a recommendation.

Just because someone predicts that Screech's sex tape will sell doesn't mean they think it's a good thing.

The Cowboy's blog said it will be a few games suspension:
"As for Haynesworth, forget the fine, thatâ€™s a few games suspension right there. Thatâ€™s too bad. Heâ€™s a good player, but are you kidding me? What is crazier, the act in itself or the fact that he was upset about getting a penalty and kicked out? Did he think that is Ok?".

Any word on police/DA involvement? The stomp was perhaps less dangerous than Marty McSorley hitting Doug Brashur(?) in the head with a Hockey stick a few years ago; but there did seem to be more premeditation. McSorley was facing a Felony charge at one point. I doubt Haynesworth will loose a whole year, kinda pathetic when you think of all Ricky Williams has gone through over smoking a little pot.
