You missed my pet theory based on nothing more than it could have happened -that Brady might have ripped up the thumb nail off its bed to some degree. That or his thumb got turned into a newt by a witch.

My expert non-medical guess was that maybe Brady ripped up the thumb nail. Explains the blood, but maybe not the x-ray (except the who and the when of it).

... and how about the reverse of the tomato can theory? Bad teams and rivals that play the Patriots like a victory will redeem their season? A lot of bad/rival teams have played the Patriots a hell of a lot harder than they play other teams.

I am one of Belichick's greatest fans, but even I would appreciate the poetic/humorous irony of trading him sooner rather than later. :) But I still wouldn't.
