Trading For A WR: Who is worth a 3rd and $20M a year?

Davante Adams, Kupp, Others in the mix could include Davonte Adams, Kupp, Samuels, Hill, Lockett, pipe dream would be Chase. Free agents - Higgins, Hopkins

So… how will Spags stop the tush push?

I am sure he has a plan and doesn’t need my help but I will make something up. Stopping it starts in early downs, try to keep Philly out of short yardage. Against Houston KC had a bunch of run blitzes to prevent Mixon from getting going. Also, at least 40% of the Eagles offensive line is really...

NFL News Offseason player acquisition thread

I agree, in theory teams should have a complete roster before the draft and then bring in the best talent available to improve units and/or find younger / cheaper models that could have similar production. A good draft is usually 1-2 starters, 2-3 backups and maybe a couple bottom of roster...

OT - Not Hyperbole- Spags is among the best DC ever

Very true, lots of great isolated achievements, I meant on the total sum of the career, dude is a winner. (Period).

OT - Not Hyperbole- Spags is among the best DC ever

Umm.. those names combined have less superbowls combined. Yes, lots of great individual years snd some great defenses but if you look at the scoreboard (clutch) Spags is an all timer.

OT - Not Hyperbole- Spags is among the best DC ever

Dude knows how to motivate and scheme and puts up wins when it matters. I don’t want to go through the painful history but the man is an all time nfl legend.

    Mason Graham vs Abdul Carter

I am digging into the research, so many holes on the roster almost any position except QB is open for discussion. My brief study of free agents and the draft suggest we can buy improvements to WR and O Line in free agency and then pick BPA at an area of need, Graham and Carter are both intriguing.

    2025 - Pretty much what I expected

Before the season I viewed the roster as among the worst in the NFL and knew a first time coach would be behind the 8 ball. Maybe I had slightly higher expectations for the defense but in the end, a 3-5 win team was my prediction. Now we see what kind of jump they can make in year 2 of the...

PostGame Thread 2024 OFFICIAL POST GAME Thread - Patriots fall to Miami 34-15

Below average roster, below average coach and below average results. No surprise at all, this is a 3-5 year rebuild… that’s how that story goes…

PostGame Thread OFFICIAL POST GAME THREAD: Patriots beat the JETE 25-22

No better feeling than seeing the Jets lose, even better when the Pats win. Good team win, well done.

PostGame Thread 2024 OFFICIAL POSTGAME: Pats lose to the Jags 32-16, fall to 1-6

Looked like a team with a rookie coach, rookie QB, poor offensive line and overrated defense… Anyone recommend any 2025 NFL Draft \ Free Agency sites?

What would you think of 4-5 after nine games?

Fins - W Texans - L Jags - W Jets - L Titans - W At this stage would rather lose and grab draft picks but looking at expectations 4-5 is ahead of schedule. Can’t wait to see that delightful game tomorrow. Go Pats

    PATRIOTS NEWS Rhamondre Paid

Maroney was also a highly questionable pick, even back then RBs were a dime a dozen and not worth a first rounder (#21 overall), I hated that pick especially because my binky MJD went around pick 60… I can remember an NFL draft from 20 years ago but not my neighbors name.

    PATRIOTS NEWS Rhamondre Paid

PFF had him as 25th rated RB, pretty good player if healthy. As a bad team you have to pay more and we have to use the cap money somewhere. Overall I am not in love but ok with this. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-running-back-rankings-top-32-2024-nfl-season

    Wirfs or Darrisaw?

I trust you! Dealing for him is a no brainer.

    Wirfs or Darrisaw?

Back to the original premise, what would I trade? First I will admit I don’t watch a lot of Vikings or Bucs and don’t know if these guys are elite but let’s assume the are above average pro bowl (not all pro) caliber of players for the next 5 years. A lot would depend on how they view Maye...

OT: Justin Jefferson signs a team friendly deal for $35 million a year

Well played sir, that is what I was trying to say but was too dumb to put into words. Thank you. Also leaving the specific position aside there are only so many generational talents, if you get one at any position you hang onto them in their prime even if it costs a little bit more.

OT: Justin Jefferson signs a team friendly deal for $35 million a year

That model works only if you have the best QB and best coach of all time. Now that the Pats are bottom dwellers they will have to overpay for weapons, without a true #1 or at least a threat, defenses will feast. In the meantime the pats have $60 M in cap space that is not helping the roster.

We are #1 in 2025! (Draft order projection, ESPN's FPI)

I was looking at it more from an investment standpoint and risk perspective, 4 picks vs. 2. But as an uninformed observer it is pretty easy to see them doing very poorly in 24/25. Ceiling is a top 5 pick, floor is #1. Middle of the pack? Sorry, they are going to suck this year.
  20. cstjohn17

We are #1 in 2025! (Draft order projection, ESPN's FPI)

Collasal mismanagement by the Pats sticking with the 3rd overall pick in 2024. Maye might end being good but looks like a pretty big project, little return on investment until 2025. They could have traded with the Vikings and ended up with: 2024 - 11, 23 2025 - their own top 3 pick, top 12...
