The Official Patriots vs Dolphins game thread

Nice tip of the hat to Gil.

They need to do better on first down.

FILM REVIEW FROM NFP - TD To Walker wasn't Dennard's fault

Interesting breakdown. I wonder if McCourty's decision to focus on Moss was a pure misread or the result of a coaching point to focus on him.

Owen Daniels - the X factor for Houston vs Pats

They're a good running team that only throws the ball to two WRs. All of their other passes go to TEs and backs. No disrespect to Arrington, it's just a matchup thing.

Owen Daniels - the X factor for Houston vs Pats

Mix it up of course, but maybe a lot of 3-3-5 sub packages: RDE: Jones NT: Wilfork LDE: Ninkovich LB: Mayo - Spikes - Hightower LCB: Talib RCB: Dennard RS: McCourty LS: Gregory 3rd S: Chung/Wilson I think that package gives you a lot of flexibility against the Texans. Put Chung...

Brandon Marshall says some NFL players use Viagra as a PED

No surprise, any Broscientist will tell you that Viagra works like a combination of a mild steroid and NOS. (Despite the fact that it doesn't) Full disclosure: I've taken Horny Goat Weed for lifting purposes, and it definitely gave me a mental edge which improved my performance. Maybe it's...

    Well worth a look

It's common sense: if you execute a blitz well enough, the quality of coverage is less relevant. It's all about how long the secondary can hold up vs how long it takes to get to the QB, whether you're blitzing or not.

Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats

re: Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats I'll take a .490 winning percentage over a .486 winning percentage; and I'll take the current Texans team over the current Bengals team. Don't forget the Bengals haven't won a playoff game with Lewis, and lost one to...

Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats

re: Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats I said I was done, but I can't stop myself: Coaches with better long-term success (16): Belichick Coughlin Tomlin McCarthy Payton (even though he's suspended) Kubiak Jim Harbaugh John Harbaugh Mike Smith...

    Well worth a look

It's not always a "tough guy" argument when it comes to blitzing. Some fans have the opinion that failing to execute a low-risk, low-reward scheme is worse than failing to execute a high-risk, high-reward strategy. Many of us who want more blitzes and disguised rushes realize their pitfalls but...

Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats

re: Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats I don't want to turn this into a Marv Lewis thread, so this will be the last time I respond to you about the subject. Earlier you accused me of ignorance. Fine. Now you're accusing me of bias. Ok. All I'll say is that I...

Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats

re: Rex Ryan...just "imagine" for a second... him as the DC for the Pats Sorry, but that line made me laugh my head off and spit-spray coffee all over the place. You owe me a replacement keyboard. Aim low, you'll never be disappointed?

Pats get CB Aqib Talib from the Bucs !!

Honestly, these "character concerns" aren't concerns at all. The only troubling one is the cab driver. Chalk up the fight to competitiveness. His sister's boyfriend is a chester, so he actually did the right thing. Furthermore, that shows an extremely HIGH level of moral character, because he's...

The Official Patriots vs Rams game thread

If McDaniel's didn't keep running the draw, I'd have nothing to complain about.

    More reps: WoodHead or Vereen?

Man, Vereen's looking real good today. I love the "problem" this team has with it's RBs. Woodhead haters can point to the scoreboard, but McD's doing him no favors with those ill-timed draws.
  17. H

    More reps: WoodHead or Vereen?

Woodhead. If you put any stock into FootballOutsiders stats, he's currently the most effective pass-catching RB in the league. His running stats this year aren't all that great, but if you watch the games you'd realize how impactful some of his runs have been. Plus, he can't control the lack...

Is PATs zone coverage the problem?

It's more personnel than scheme. Every shell has its pros and cons, but the cons will always be magnified with crappy players. The frustrating thing is that Cover 2 is supposed to prevent the big play but forces the opposition to dink and dunk more; but the Pats have been giving up both
  19. H

    Woodhead !!

He was one of the few bright spots yesterday. He's really developed a knack for making clutch plays that keep the chains moving.
