Content Post The Official Vrabel vs Ben Johnson Discussion Thread

An excellent summary of the combination being the thing versus one or the other which isn't reflective of reality. Teams, including their staffs, win championships - great players, great coaching, great administration (including. scouting and development).

PATRIOTS NEWS Patriots request to interview Ben Johnson

Or conversely, like BB when he came here from the Jets, he stays in division cuz he's a type A personality, a workaholic, and has so much self confidence that he knows (or even thinks) he's a primary reason why the Lions have done so well and can beat them in part due to his subtraction. Only...

PATRIOTS NEWS Patriots request to interview Ben Johnson

I tend not to separate them in my mind frankly. As an example I tended to either get distracted or turn off to watch via DVR later most of the Pats games this year. Whether knowing a false start or hold was going to derail the O most drives or watching the opposing O dominate time of possession...

PATRIOTS NEWS Patriots request to interview Ben Johnson

Nope, there are many who recognize the value of balance. KC is winning this year not on the back of its offense, but its defense just as one example (#4 in ppg allowed). The Lions just clinched on their defense against the Vikes. You need all three components somewhere in the middle of the...

PATRIOTS NEWS Patriots request to interview Ben Johnson

I'd dial this back a bit. In the same vein as judging how bad a draft is on only rookie performance metrics; decisions regarding Milton after only one game against second tier competition where there's no game planning or tendency exploitation by the opposing coaching is likewise premature...

PATRIOTS NEWS Patriots request to interview Ben Johnson

I think you're arguing the extreme end of the discussion. Are you saying Reid isn't even involved in the draft process at all and just comes in the day after draft day and says "what have you got for me"????? Every coach in the league is working with their team's personnel and scouting...

Content Post Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Contributing to the existence of the product on the field in which you Mr Tavai are being given sustenance and security through payment for your play? That role?

Content Post Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

I wouldn't rate this as high for the reason of a guaranteed contract first and foremost - all of the guys that are being touted are pretty much hot commodities that could bank the guaranteed pay and be back on a sideline in an OC role immediately (think McDaniels post-Broncs) Second they are...

Content Post Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

He was a rookie and showed some rookie flashes, but his technique and savvy were obviously raw. That said, he was enough of a disruptor (as was Barmore) that it helped mask Judon's decline. (last year's DL still was susceptible/exploitable to the run, they were just a better pass rushing unit as...

Content Post WEEK 17 FILM BREAKDOWN: Offensive Line

Just remember that Strange's pattern is inconsistency. He'll throw out a great game against an all-pro defender then lay an egg against a third string backup. We need to see more before declaring "problem solved".

Content Post WEEK 17 FILM BREAKDOWN: Offensive Line

Thank you. Two of those three clips show White getting a double team (or an initial double to a shift to pick up a blitzing or stunt game rusher) while in the first one he drops out in coverage which is what I thought I saw on TV overall. I'm not saying he's an all-pro DL which he isn't , but...

Content Post WEEK 17 FILM BREAKDOWN: Offensive Line

I'd like to know the all-22 on the DL as well. It appeared via broadcast view they doubled White many/most plays and erased everyone else one on one including any additional rushers easily with either a TE or RB. As poor as the OL is (and it is) the DL is just as bad (as are the LBs frankly)...

PostGame Thread 2024 OFFICIAL WEEK 17 POST GAME THREAD: Patriots lose 40-7

He's not invisible, he's facing a double team every play, but you *&^% on every Patriots player so par for the course (as I see you've got your sights on Maye now as well). White is not an Aaron Donald beat the double team all-pro, but he's shown he can be a solid piece of a good DL. He leaves...

Content Post Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

He's double teamed every play now - that's why his production has plummeted. There's literally no one else with pass rushing skills. They trade him, he'll tear it up on any team with even one more pass rusher.

    The Case Against Eliot Wolf

A good business model would have actual conditions for employees to meet along a continuum of time if a solid, dependable evaluation system was in place, For the GM especially it would have to encompass both short term (this year) and long term (last couple years) metrics taking into account...
