Patriots Player Departure Stefon Diggs Cut.

I don't see how it would be except maybe you might have to pay the tax in the year it was guaranteed. How would it be different?

Patriots Player Departure Stefon Diggs Cut.

Doesn't a restructure help the player because it is guaranteeing more money? It doesn't make sense that a 33 year old WR would have a problem with more guaranteed money on a contract he signed last year.

Patriots Player Departure Stefon Diggs Cut.

Right, but that would have essentially made it a two year deal because of the 2027 cap hit. What they signed last year was essentially a one year deal.

Patriots Player Departure Stefon Diggs Cut.

I'm talking cap numbers. How low do you think he will go? Look what Copper Kupp got. Diggs would have to command at least mid to high teens. They won't pay him that PLUS take the cap hit.

Patriots Player Departure Stefon Diggs Cut.

There's little chance this year. They're not going to eat 9+ million and then pay him again. If they wanted him at all this year, they would have guaranteed some money and lowered his cap number.

    RFA's

Yes I think you're right, but the whole RFA system makes no sense to me.

    RFA's

I remember they tendered Myles Bryant Right of First Refusal, and he was enormously better than Austin. No way they guarantee Austin 3.4M. He's currently a borderline practice squad player. I agree that they will work out something with Gibbens and Devito.

    Greenard?

This is more the type of move the team should be making, if everything else checks out. I'd prefer giving up a day 2 pick for a Landry type of contract, then putting all our eggs in one basket while leaving the draft very thin.

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

OK whatever. Is this better than giving a 1st and 3rd for Crosby (that's what I think it will take from our draft position)

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

So is a guy like this worth the second round pick vs what you will have to pay for Crosby?

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

I asked ChatGPT when was the last time a non QB traded for a #1, given a large contract, and the team won a Super Bowl. NONE So it's more likely they find a Crosby in the draft.

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

I get that. But they had a lot of luck on injuries and opponents, which doesn't mean they are not a championship contender. How about this? These moves don't often work. Trading a #1 and paying 30M a year isn't the best way to attain those 1-2 pieces, unless you are on your last legs as a...

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

It's the pick plus the money. This is year two of the rebuild. I'd rather try to find our own Crosby in the draft than give up a first round pick. Which won't be enough because someone will offer a higher pick.

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

They can easily free up a lot to not be a current problem, and they're loaded with picks. Any deal will likely be cap friendly this year anyway. You know them.

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

I saw on the screen at the gym that Jerry Jones wants to go/spend big on defense this year. Seriously we're going to be able to compete against that?

Patriots Rumor OT: Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel UPDATE: Breer expects him to be traded this week with the Pats a favorite

I don't like giving up the #1. It means we pick towards the end of the second round. I think you address it in the draft, and sign a mid contract guy like the FAs they signed last year
  17. Family

    QB2 and QB3

I think they give Devito a shot at #2 and either draft someone later or bring in a vet to compete. What would the guarantees need to be to sign him? He's sort of the type of backup you might want. He could go on a Mac Jones run for a few games, until the league caught up.

Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

It might be Diggs OR Boutte. Douglas/Chism aren't even in the top 5 adding AJ. How much is Boutte going to get? I know he has a year left, but if they're planning on keeping him, the team can't want to let him play into free agency. That's the problem, with Diggs getting big $$$ now. It limits...
