Which Year in the Salary Cap Era Was The League Its Strongest?

Actually the most recent year is always the "strongest" across all players in modern athletics. So... 2016-17 :) But I think you mean strongest playoff teams relative to league non-playoff teams.

Mary Kay Cabot is Talking Up Jimmy G's Trade Value

Holy crap! NE gonna have the #1, #2 and #3 drafting teams each with boatloads of cash, desperation, desire and positive Coach/GM appraisement going after JAG! Are you kidding me? Can you say MASSIVE bidding war? Also, not the smartest nor frugalist franchises either. ;) The article really...

Elementary is pretty good for a network show IMO. and Two Broke Girls....

OT: Mazz and area media make the region look idiotic

First I've heard of the streak. But I guess that's what triple digits get you. How is that NOT impressive?

Top 10 RBs of all time

You got it backwards, for me I drop LT into the #20's and Faulk into the #30's just bc, of the style of NFL when they played. I think any of those top 10 would have much the same if not better numbers in a pass happy, lighter hitting league. Just because, again IMO, they are MUCH better runners...

Top 10 RBs of all time

I just don't know about these two. Not the runners per se, but the style. I think we're going to see many more of these types of yard accumulators going forward in the modern NFL. For example, if you take any of the OP's top 10, made it a must they had to have decent hands too, and made them...

Edelman: "Jimmy G is a stud"

Originally I was in the hold JG until contract expires as Brady insurance camp. Another year of evaluation, quality backup in case injury strikes, and could still flip JG for a less than spectacular compensation (via tag and trade, or just a quick flip for picks and sign risk) if you decide to...

    Offensive Line going into FA/Draft

Another underrated aspect of BB's draft strategy is this. Bc/he rarely (ever?) is forced to draft based on immediate need, he can find some 1st day talent that slips due to injury, age, lack of playing time, position switch, etc, in the later rounds. Vollmer is a perfect example. He came out as...

    Offensive Line going into FA/Draft

Solder didn't have the best of games. How the Patriots engineered the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history | PFF "To put it bluntly, Patriots LT Nate Solder was getting his butt whipped. He was responsible for a ludicrous 10 QB pressures throughout the first 37 minutes of the game. At that...

    Offensive Line going into FA/Draft

I for another, would like to see some additional draft or $$$ capital put toward the OL. There cannot be a repeat of the 2015/16 season's end scenario. Nothing outlandish, but throw another 2-3 M at the line, just so we have capable vet and/or rookie or sophomore backups ready if injuries strike.

    OT: Onside kick in overtime?

ATL chance of recovery 0.30, chance scoring from 50 (TD+FG) 0.50 = 0.30 x 0.50 = 0.15 (15%) winning outright with recovery & score. Otherwise everything stays the same except for field position of NE and what chances of scoring a TD to end a game, and the differences between both scenarios...

    OT: Onside kick in overtime?

Interesting theory. Not just for this game, but OT in general. In hopes of some lively discussion I found this. Likelihood scoring by field position. The graph goes right to left. So if you start at your own 19, use the '81' yds to go on the x axis. Chance of recovering a onside kick, 1 in...

Was Solder hurt in Superbowl? 3/5ths of line exceptional in SB.

I seem to recall Solder was hurt and slow to recover after a play in the AFC Championship game. Does anyone remember the/any play Solder looked like he got hurt in the game? I recall thinking, oh no, not f'n Solder. But then he seemed to shake it off. Maybe it was worse than it looked. But he...

We all want 6 but how important is it to Brady/BB/Franchise Legacy

Not to mention they took roughly twice as many seasons to do it in and there were 60-75% as many teams in the league while they did it.

Analyzing the myth of ATL blowing a sure win by not running the ball up 28-20

You need to factor the chance of ATL miss FG in there too... And subsequent short field effect if they do.

The 1 play that changed the inevitable outcome

Win probability chart. It looks like nothing moves the needle until the last of the few minutes of the fourth. Although it probably should be in logarithmic scale. I'll see if I can track down the specific plays that cause the late spikes.

Poll: Where does 5th vs. ATL rank among Pats greatest SB victories?

Feel free to list all 5. But I think it's a 3 Horse race. For me it's pretty simple: #1 ATL Much tougher between these next two, but I go with #2 RAMS #3 SEA But it's really close. SEA was more exciting back and forth football & ending obviously. The RAMS victory and game was surreal -and a...
