The point is, just pure yardage itself is not the best barometer for QB greatness. It CAN be, but it can also be due to pure longevity as well. Kerry Collins and Vinny Testaverde are each in the top 16 all-time in that stat! That's what makes YPA an important modifier to pure yards.
