Ahead of Sunday's FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, dozens of NFL players including Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Washington Commanders offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil took to social media Friday with the hashtag #WorthTheCost to express their desire for permanent grass playing surfaces.

MetLife Stadium is among the venues that replaced its artificial turf with grass for the 78 FIFA World Cup games hosted by NFL stadiums this summer.

"If stadiums can make grass work for the World Cup, they can make it work for NFL players. We're #WorthTheCost," Tunsil wrote in a post on X.

Two things to note:
Wes Welker blew out his knee on natural grass. Players can still get injured on natural grass.
Here in New England (& at MetLife Stadium), we have this thing called winter. Grass does not grow during winter. It hibernates. Torn up grass cannot be re-grown between games in the winter. The best they can do is re-sod every now & then and this new sod rarely stays in place during an NFL game.

While I would prefer natural grass myself, what they really need is a stadium with a removable cover and a heated field to allow the grass to continue on like it's still summer.

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, cornerback Jermod McCoy plans to sign his rookie contract on Wednesday.

McCoy was a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft. He missed the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL in January 2025, electing to forego his final year of college eligibility to head to the next level.

I had ST’s for many years. I remember when we had a grass field. Winter months we were playing on a torn up field.
When the Revs used it before us it was torn up then also.
I would love a grass field, it just does not work at Gillette for the reasons above

Bingo. We will see this year if he can read and adjust to his blocks. For some guys it is not easy.
You got it.
I think some guys are just far too eager to get up to speed asap, and obv with Hendo having elite speed, he hurries too much.
Leveon Bell didn't have elite anything, other than patience.
Go back and watch some his tape, he was one of the most patient runners I've ever seen, and he was highly successful just taking his time and letting things develop.
They are not the same type of RB at all, but Hendo could certainly learn a learn about letting things develop.

Excellent news. Whenever the Jete Suck 2026 thread gets under way, perhaps this tweet will be near the top; I mean, how Jete would this be, giving Two full years to one of the very worst coaches in team history... Because they wouldn't tank for Two straight years with Glenn & Gee-No, would they...?

The JETEs will tank in 2026 to chose a QB in the 2027 draft so one year for Glen to tank and one more year to thank Glen for tanking, so two more years for Glen. Then the JETEs will bring in an offensive HC to work with the new QB.

Can't believe that is the plan.
Jets have some nice pieces on their roster.
If Geno can play even mid starter level ball, they will be competitive.
They won't tank.
They have enough draft capital to get a new QB without tanking.

Sure but its the Jete. They are the plan.

There is always the Jets factor, plus their insane owner.
However on paper they have talent.
Decent QB play and they won't be a pushover.
I would expect closer to 8-9 than first overall pick, time will tell.

They are, on paper, better than Miami.

Miami is a dumpster fire........during the WWIII........in the middle of a zombie apocalypse......and a meteor shower of a molten lava.
Jets will Jet, but they do have talent.
If Geno plays like 2 years ago they can flirt with .500, if he plays like last year, the Jets are on the clock!

They always have had talent. That's how they used to win the Offseason.

True.
QB play has held them back from being even respectable.
I have no faith in Geno, but if he can be even decent they will be competitive.

They are usually better as a whole when the expectations are low coming into the season. There's no real backup to the 35 yr old starter.
