It was Watson. He didn't want to sign a 6 year deal:

"When Watson was drafted, the Patriots wanted him to sign a six-year deal, unusual for a 32nd pick at the time and not even allowed now because of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement. Watson balked at the demand and held out of a portion of training camp. He eventually caved, feeling he had no other options.

"No 32nd pick had ever had to sign a six-year deal, it was just unheard of, so I hold out for a couple of weeks, they don't budge, I have no leverage, I end up changing agents and signing the deal."

"He can't say for certain, but he still thinks the coaches gave him a little old-school retaliation in exchange for the holdout.

Some of the dumb **** BB would do that backfired....

"What's funny is I think my first preseason game that I played, was in Cincinnati, and they put me at gunner [on kick coverage]. Now, I was fast, I could run with the little guys for much of my career, before I got old and had all these injuries,' Watson said. "But playing gunner is something totally outlandish. ... To this day, I still think it was my punishment for holding out."

The bigger punishment was what happened next. Watson tore his ACL in the Patriots' opener and would have to miss the 2004 season."

Agents getting replaced has happened many times over the years.

I see a Stalemate situation here: the Patriots haven't been in something like this in a while. I don't see a hatchet being buried; more like an axe to grind I don't like it. IF he ain't signed by this week I say expect the worst going forward.

he looks like he is working pretty hard already, and moving really well.
facts are, Jacas is the teams 4th or 5th OLB to start the season.
will he even be active on game days to start the first half of the season?
can he start making contributions mid way and be a playmaker by seasons end?
January is a long ways off from July

This was too easy of a nickname for him. However, this could be turning into a Ben Watson situation where we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. The Pats knew of his medical history and aware he was getting surgery. If they didn't feel comfortable guaranteeing the contract, the Pats shouldn't have drafted him in the 2nd round.

"Still, the Patriots did their homework on Jacas during the pre-draft process. Per ESPN, multiple teams knew about a labral tear in his shoulder. I always thought it highly unlikely the Patriots didn't know of his injuries or his upcoming surgeries. Seems more like a contract thing than anything else. We shall see soon.

It is a "contract thing". The Pats don't want to guarantee the entire contract for injury because of the stuff that Jacas had fixed. Jacas wants to ensure he's got financial stability going forward.

That's why the Patriots didn't give Jacas a Participation contract for him to be at OTAs.

Both sides need to suck it up. The Pats need to guarantee the first year and set it that year gets guaranteed with 12 games played in year 1. guarantee year 3 with 12 games in year 2 and year 4 with 12 games in year 3.. Jacas' AGENT needs to suck it up and do what's best for his client. Which is to get him into camp.

Contracts for players drafted in Jacas' range are not 100% guaranteed. Most run about 75-85% guaranteed.

I agree with @DaBruinz, both sides need to suck it up and move forward.
