2026 Red Sox Thread

GM's gone at the end of the season too.

But yeah, the Real problem is Ownership. Maybe, just maybe, this embarrassment lights enough of a fire under him to change the current course and aim towards opening the purse-strings and letting go of the failed prospects in favor of productive but more ex-pensive vets...
Or maybe it doesn't.
I believe they’ll react the opposite way, spend spend spend and then say “see? Happy now?” They’ll win and do the whole process over again. Pendulum swings.

I knew he's been ducking the media for a while but since 2020??? DAMN
Did you see his picture? Henry looks like Lurch. Half dead.

He has Zero accountability. Least visible owner among Boston teams by far.
And also the worst owner in Boston by far.
F him.

20 years ago we'd have nominated him for sainthood, now we just want to burn him at the stake. Greedy no accountability bastard, guess it really was Lucchino behind the scenes making it happen

When asked about how he felt he said "I'm happy". I can see that, he probably gets to keep a lot of money and no longer has to deal with a ****ty roster, the owner, and fans expectations.

Look at Henry’s ownership tenure with the Marlins prior to coming here. It’s the same thing. You’re likely not wrong about Lucchino; he may have had Henry’s ear, and his Orioles and Padres tenure was solid prior to his arrival here.

Not a doubt in my mind Lucchino being 'the baseball guy', Henry being the money guy and Werner being the public face dilettante in that trumvirate. Without Lucchino they have had no real baseball vision

The team was foundering. The ship was sinking fast and it felt like Cora had no clue how to fix it. As embarrassing as the end of 2011 and that ended similarly. There is still 5/6 of a season and the AL pretty much sucks. I have liked Cora a long time - but they made the right move. And finally we got Anthony out of the frigging lead off spot.

If that's legitimately how he feels, then sending him packing was the right call. The manager of a last placed team loaded with young, underperforming talent needs to be salivating at the opportunity to turn that ship around. He's hard to read, because he's so experienced and probably processes urgency differently than the fans, so who really knows other than his inner circle.

Cora sucks too. He should've been fired a long time ago. Hell he really should've been BANNED from baseball anyway; so **** him too, he was part of The Problem.

Theo...?

To a degree. Theo was Lucchino's guy, he came here from San Diego with Lucchino. I suspect the primary reason he left here and went to Chicago was to get out from under and be seen as his own man.

This season is like a Hollywood movie. But Boston has seen it before. The 1914 Braves started 26-40. Finished 61-16. Swept the A’s in the Series 4-0.

Offseason has started and the Red Sox made their first move.

Sonny Gray and 20 million in, **** Fitts and Brandon Clarke out.

I don't like this trade for one reason. Giving up prospects that you could otherwise flip into a bigger deal. Gray is 36 and on a one year deal. Breslow continues, post Crochet, to make terrible deals. He is now actively harming the organization.
Sonny Gray now 12-1 with a 2.48 ERA. 13 in a row and 18 out of 20.
