2027 Watch List

I think I'm going to love Clev Lubin this year. What this video showed me is just how physical is with big offensive linemen. He's a little undersized, but he's not a twitched up edge rusher afraid of contact.

Watch the whole video, but I've linked it to a play where he blows up a guard.

2nd to last play isn't a good look. He's got a mobile QB and he went too far upfield, giving the QB a beautiful running lane. Other than that, he looked very good.

With Elliss a UFA, are you having whomever you pick as the Spillane replacement spend a year in Elliss' role?? Or are you playing your Elliss' replacement immediately and having your Spillane replacement learning from the Bench?
Whichever works. Also, cutting Spillane would save 10m so that wouldn't surprise me and Vrabel has shown a willingness to throw rookies in at the deep end.

I don't think that they'd cut Spillane. Not with how barren the cupboard is at LB currently because Spillane is the only LB they have signed for 2027 that has proven anything. Muma and Britt are both free agents along with Elliss. That could change if Jacobs or Obiazor make the team. When Vrabel cut Strange, they had other players beyond Wilson.

Different types of linebacker. Brown is a MIKE. Cole is a SAM.

I thought Cole's run defense was the weakest part of his game in that video I posted - at least to the extent that you wouldn't want him to be the mainstay of your run defense game. His pass rush and coverage on the other hand...

Watch what Taylor Wein does to the RT at 1:47 in the below.

The only knock on Wein for me is arm length. He looks more 31-32” than 33-34”.

Jayden Bellamy, CB, UCF
6-1, 180

Even if Karon Prunty is the real deal, I still think CB is one of our top 3 needs heading into the 2027 season with uncertainty over Gonzo's contract (hopefully resolved by then) and Carlton Davis carrying a 22m cap hit into his final year of his contract.

Let me make the case for Jayden Bellamy.

1. He's consistent.

His coverage grades have always been good and gradually improving. Additionally in each of his three years, he's had only 3 missed tackles per season. For context's sake, Leonard Moore has had 7 in each of his two seasons.

2023 - 72.4 coverage, 8.6% missed tackle rate
2024 - 75.7 coverage, 7.7 missed tackle
2025 - 77.8 coverage, 7.9 missed tackle

2. He's fast

I can't find a forty time but when he was being recruited out of HS, his speed was described as "elite" and as a "fast, fast, fast guy".

3. He looks to have crazy long arms.

I have a guide when trying to assess arm length. If a prospect is standing upright where do his arms hang in relation to his thigh pads. If they barely reach the thigh pad you're looking at 30/31", if the fingers pass the bottom of the thigh pad, you're getting up towards 35" It's obviously an inexact science but a reasonably useful guide when there's a lack of actual data.

Here's a photo of Bellamy.

I'd guess a minimum of 33".

4. Ian Cummings likes him

It will be interesting to see if he makes a 2026 leap, but there's an interesting mid-round base there already.

Xavier Atkins is a 210lb linebacker so I don't know where you play him. Strong safety? I know I've already mentioned him but I can't remember if I made this comp. Is he this year's Keionte Scott? He's terrific attacking downhill.

A good look at Bellamy here in all-22

Here's a cut up of OJ Frederique from the same creator. I'm going to say it, I was disappointed. I much prefer Bellamy's tape.

EDIT: It got better towards the end with some good press man reps. Still, tackling effort and taking on blocks is fairly poor and he struggles when the receiver throttles down, something I thought Bellamy was excellent at. Frederique is also vey handsy in man coverage.

He's not Arvell Reese powerful, but this cut up of Kynggston Viliamu-Asa (I've learned how to spell his name now) is a fun time.
