2026 Draft: Safety

I can't help you with that but if we sign him, this play will do the rounds.

To be fair, Snow was very late and missed both receivers when they were wide open.

To be fair he was covering 2 guys.

No. Spencer wasn't covering 2 guys. He was covering #44. He was in off coverage. Had Snow hit #44 early, it was a TD.
#10 of Michigan State was supposed to be covering #88 of Oregon. #10 falls down, leaving 88 wide open. The 2 LBs bit on the roll out. 88 was wide open as he moved across the field. 88 actually screws up by trying to go to the Corner and putting Spencer in front of him.

If Snow had thrown the ball at the 4 or 5 second mark of the play, it's a TD to 88 instead of an interception.

Two thoughts.

1. I was watching Phil Perry and Alex Barth discussing safeties and they were talking about the fact that we don't have TE erasers and that's why we moved away from man coverage last season. So they talked about EMW and Zakee Wheatley but didn't mention Treydan Stukes once. Now Stukes may be off our board altogether because of age - I freely accept that (Mesidor too) - but if you are wanting a safety that has the size, man coverage ability and tackling to 'erase' a TE, there's no-one better outside the first round.

2. VJ Payne might just be the best Carlton Davis replacement in this draft. The knock on Payne are his instincts at safety, his biggest plus is his ability to smother receivers in man coverage. Like Davis he's big-bodied (over 200lbs), has long arms (nearly 34"), runs a 4.4 forty, jumps 35" and has a sub 7 sec 3cone. He's the dream man coverage bigger bodied corner.

Just read that Kamari Ramsey wore the green dot for USC. I suspect that boosts his stock for the Patriots. Not my favourite choice but a 4th rounder? Maybe.

I would think that it would only boost his stock if the Pats are thinking that he would wear it at some point.

Dot = Communicating the calls in from the DC. Not necessarily recognizing what the offense is doing..

Tony Pauline says Stukes won't get past 42. Some teams see him as S3.

An option at 31?

We will have a very lively discussion of options on Draft Day if and when all the OT's and Mesidor are gone.

I think you mean IF all the OTs are gone.. I don't believe they will be.. Mesidor will definitely be gone (sorry Manx). Which of the OTs are still remaining at 31 will be the question..

I am really surprised he's not on the contacts list.
