Russini & Vrabel Nothing to see here?

Oh no… the Patriots coach was spotted… talking… arms crossed… to an NFL reporter…. Heavens, no!
Many commentators here seem to be experiencing more arousal than either of the "guilty parties." I am reminded of the Victorians' putting little puttees on the legs of their furniture lest gentlemen of the time take those bare legs as invitations to coitus.

Never. This isn't Aaron Hernandez or Spygate or Deflategate or Kraft's Rubadubdub. The only.people refusing to let this go away are those who don't want it to. Moving on...

Let's just be grateful Coach didn't use the poor girl as a blocking sled. Imagine the caterwauling.

You know, that means at some point, some dude tried to bang some Victorian chair or something.

Why do you think they called them "Love Seats," as in, "That's a nice lookin' Love Seat you've got there, M'am"?

I don't care enough about either you or this issue to feel "rage." What I feel is disdain for the pantytwisting performative bleating of fools.

You probably think you're clever. You're not. You're the one performing.

Whether her relationship with Coach Vrabel is just friends or more than that - she seems to diss and disrespects her husband a lot in public or social media doesn't she. Maybe he's kinda simpy and likes that sort of thing.

that's just.....mildly funny

men have made jokes about their wives/weddings in similar fashion forever.......this is an issue because she's a woman, yes? and that's not the traditional subservient gender role you expect for women? coupled with a perceived threat to his masculinity?

maybe it's just......funny?

To his face alone or in a small group of friends... sure. On national TV or social media... dunno about that.

Hopefully with a message about how everybody on the team is in a high profile role with the spotlight always on them, so they should be well behaved and extremely careful not to do anything stupid that might bring embarrassment to them and the entire team.

His biggest asset as coach is his experience. Now he can speak from experience about things like Stef’s pink bath salts cruise photos etc.
The thing is though, Vrabel did take reasonable precautions to keep this out of the public eye. The question is who got wind of this and how, and who benefits for making this public?

have you ever seen rodney dangerfield?

Are you honestly comparing a professional comedian to a sportswriter???

Besides, a better question is have you ever seen Rodney Dangerfield? His shtick is how he “gets no respect” so when he talks about his wife he generally isn’t putting her down, he saying the things that she did to put him down.

A better example you want is Henny Youngman. “I take my wife everywhere but she still finds her way back home.” But it is still a stupid comparison when one is a comedian and the other is a sportswriter.

I wouldn't call it funny. It's more sad than anything.

I think you're bending over backwards to make the reaction to her comments a gender thing. Yes for years there was the boomer "I hate my wife" trope but that is dying off with the boomers. If she made a joke here or there about her husband I am sure no one would think twice but I have seen about a dozen clips/tweets of her disparaging her husband. Maybe they have a quirky relationship but if my wife was talking to a national audience about how I was average, or that we were divorcing by the end of the year, or that her mother told her to think twice about marrying me I wouldn't love it.

yes, I 100% am - you can be a great sportswriter (there are very few left) and not be successful - if you want success in virtually any media outlet these days, you have to have an online presence.......some choose the hot take route (felger, whitlock, et al - hell whitlock has fully gone off the deep end), it's obvious that russini tries to be a "serious journalist" while still upping her follows with some humor.......the lines between journalist/entertainer are very much blurred, and if you think this was a serious attempt to slag her husband, you're even more laughable then you've come off as in this thread
