Actually it's interestingly good. I'm not big on Brazzell and Fields but I can see the upside. I really like the other picks.
Assuming we don't trade for Brown, a double dip at WR is definitely a possibility.Username is a Brazzell fan boy.. Personally, not a fan of Moore or Tucker for the Edge. Also not a Klein fan.. Double dipping at receiver makes ZERO sense with this team's current composition.
I think Klein has upside although he's some way from producing it. Moore is too much a 'run through you guy' for me, but there's no denying his production.Username is a Brazzell fan boy.. A quick guy like Cyrus Allen, and a boundary WR like Lance, Bell, Hurst...etc.
Pop isn't long for the roster and his spot could definitely be upgraded (and I like Pop).
Boutte could be in his last year here.
There is a lot of value in the WR position in rds 2 and beyond, a double dip without a Brown trade is a high probability imo.
And the possibility of AJ Brown. The problem with your thinking is that you believe they're going to carry 6 WR again. I don't believe that. They've sent a very clear message that they want to change the dynamic of the offense to be even more smash mouth. They only carried 2 TE on the pro-roster for most of the season.. They promoted Dippre late in the season, but he was a healthy scratch most of the time and they used a O-Lineman as the extra blocker because they didn't have an adequate blocking TE or adequate FB..
I see them carrying 5 WR, 3 RB, 1 FB, and 3-4 TE on the Pro-Roster.
Doubs, Williams, Boutte, and Hollins are locks at WR. You have Chism, Douglas, Draft Pick, Jiles, and Webb vying for 1 spot. Adding more than 1 draft pick means you're taking snaps away from Williams. Someone you've invested a 3rd round pick and a lot of time into already.. Someone who was developing and getting used to the complex offense the Pats run.. Why would you take away snaps from him?
Stevenson and Henderson are locks at RB. Jennings, Mitchell, Larison, and a Draft pick would be vying for the 3rd RB spot.
Gilliam is the lock at FB. You have Lampe and Westover who will be vying for the PS spot.
Henry and Hill are the locks at TE. Westover, 1-2 Draft picks., Lang and Dippre will be vying for the 1-2 spots here.
I don't believe that 2 WR is remotely close to a "high probability". In fact, I think it's tremendously unlikely and would be a waste of draft resources.

Yes, and I did add that caveat. And the possibility of AJ Brown.

Another mock draft. This time on Fanspeak's mock draft simulator.
Here's our top 4 picks.
-We went first with 6'4 263 lb EDGE TJ Parker. He was highly productive with 126 tackles and 21.5 sacks over 39 games.
-6'8 323 lb OT Caleb Tiernan felt like a decent value in round 2. He was rated top 96% as a college pass blocker and has versatility to play LT or kick in to guard.
-6'2 DB Treydan Stukes has experience playing both Safety and Corner so he could be a versatile defensive piece.
-6'4 200 lb WR Ja'Kobi Lane offers a legitimate red zone threat for Drake Maye to air out his long balls. The USC receiver scored 16 TDs over the past two seasons.
The Middle rounds saw us pick up an athletic developmental TE in Oscar Delp and some additional Dips into the Edge and WR positions with Jeff Caldwell and Tyreak Sapp. DT Onyedim hopefully helps fill the defensive line rotation needs with the loss of Tonga.
Finally we added a backup RB in Randall who has the physique at 6'3 230 lbs to handle a workload as well as two prospects the Patriots have had for top 30 visits in Edge Gumbs Jr. and OT Travis Burke.
It feels like we got plenty of value and filled several top needs with this draft. We even managed to pick up a couple guys the Patriots might regard fairly highly in the back end of the draft with Gumbs Jr. and Travis Burke. How did I do with this latest mock? Do you have any binkies out of this lot?
I don't want AJ Brown. I know I am in the minority on this. His wanting to play for the Patriots because of his fandom as a kid doesn't change that his current attitude. He is different that Diggs, who was coming off an injury. When I was against the Diggs signing, it wasn't known that he'd been humbled by the injury experience. That he was willing to come in and be a mentor to the young guys in the room. I think that Brown coming in would be a detriment to the WR room and what they've built to this point..And the possibility of AJ Brown.
I don't get you adding 2 DTs and only 1 Edge guy.. The Pats are stacked at DT. I don't see either Proctor or Capehart as upgraded over Farmer, Durden or Taylor..Traded 31 and 95 for 40 and 51.
Traded 63 and 171 for 69 and 106.
This would be close to a dream draft me.
You might not want him but you can't deny there's an element of inevitability to it and as such, needs to be factored in to discussing this draft.I don't want AJ Brown. I know that Vrabel was against the Titans trading Brown because Vrabel had explicitly told Brown he wouldn't be traded while Vrabel was HC and maybe Vrabel feels obligated to make that right, but Brown isn't the same player, attitude wise, that he was with the Titans. If Vrabel could reign in Brown, then maybe it would work out, but that's a big IF..
If it happens, Vrabel knows the player far better than we do and he wouldn't do it if it goes against what he is building.I don't want AJ Brown. I know I am in the minority on this. I don't believe the Pats trading for Brown is inevitable. There are only 3 inevitabilities in life. Death, taxes, and change. You might not want him but you can't deny there's an element of inevitability to it and as such, needs to be factored in to discussing this draft.
