Gonzo signaling…

I'd like to get a deal done sooner than later, but I don't think it is crucial to get a deal done this offseason. They need to have it done by the end of next offseason.

The question is how are they going to use Gonzalez? If they use him like they did in playoffs where the Pats play a lot of man coverage, then he is vital to re-sign. If they are going to play a lot of zone like they did in the regular season, they may be better off trading him for a wealth of draft picks. I almost want to see how he is used this season before they give him the big deal.

Different categories. Andy would argue with you to the death if you said you had a toothache, and insist that its gum pain you are suffering from. Thelonius would claim that pain doesn't actually exist, and then launch into monologue on the varying paradigms of pain while name dropping the jazz artists he's listening to at that moment.

I don't disagree, the phrasing I was reacting to was 'most pretentious.' Andy will of course argue whether or not today is a day that ends in 'Y' if he needs his fix bad enough but no one could honestly call him pretentious. Thelonipus lays it on with a heavy hand and a dripping brush but most of it is BS. He's admitted in the past he trolls out of boredom, spamming the meme thread being the most obvious example. Being a pompous ass is just a condiment for the **** sandwiches he attempts to serve up.

When it comes to 'most pretentious' though the not quite late and never once great Deus Irae remains undefeated. Andy will declare victory and Thelonipus will attempt to wear you down spewing wordy drivel but ol' Douche would prove you were an idiot time and again simply by virtue of the fact you did not kiss the ring and thank him for the wisdom he deigned to share. Sure it may have seemed ridiculously inane to the unwashed but when a God condescends to communicate with us plebes that's going to happen

I don't disagree with your thinking, but I question Gonzo's trade value if he is unsigned.
what team is giving up a wealth of picks with out understanding what it would take to sign Gonzo?
if Gonzo wants to be the highest paid CB (until the next guy) his value is pretty well understood
if Gonzo wants to be paid among the highest paid non QB's, his value is much different

Agree completely. The God of War has moved on to another Pats site to bore the living **** out of anyone stupid enough to engage with him. My favorite GoW post was right after the KC game in 2014 when he declared that they had the worst roster of football, dissected it part by part, and then went on to watch them go on a run that culminated in Butler's interception and another Lombardi.

My personal fave was his declaration that with limited cap space signing an injury prone player came with no inherent risk. And it had no risk because he said so. It was the quintessential Douche, 2 + 2 = 5. It's no skin off him if you can't understand it

He's not here to defend himself. But neither is any other deity nor would they be expected to. Took him about a decade and a half to figure that out. And that bit (and your Jethro Bodine math example) proves that all Gods do not operate at the same speed like any machine.

One of the reasons he manned up so often in the playoffs was because we went blitz crazy due to our very ineffective 4 man rush. We can’t live that way for a whole season imo.

Trent McDuffie was traded for a first, fifth, sixth, and a next year third and then the Rams gave him a four year extension (on top of his fifth year option which he will be playing on this year) for $124 million with $100 million of it guaranteed.

People probably think McDuffie is better than Gonzalez, but not worlds better. So McDuffie would be the template of a Gonzalez trade next offseason if the Patriots chose to go in that direction.

I was referencing the Orwellian 2 +2=5 as in projecting absolute authoritarian control over evident reality but in that instance the 'logic' really was a bit Jethro, so kinda a twofer there. OFC Gods don't need to explain themselves to the likes of us so we'll never really know, we just have to take their word for the gospel it is

as the traipse out the back door when the going gets tough.

Looks like Vrabel is signaling as well

Although I'd think any extension doesn't go down until after the draft, after the potential June trade for Brown, but before mandatory camps

If it's not done before mandatory camps Gonzo sits out and we shouldn't blame him

I think Sauce Gardner's deal was announced mid-July last season - though it remains to be seen if he will get Sauce Gardner money - or a Sauce Gardner type contract that's designed with outs or to be traded before Year 2

McDuffie has missed 12.1% of his games compared to 31.4 for CG. Should CG come at a 19.3% discount?
The only thing Mcduffie has over Gonzo is being a superbowl champion..

Gonzo and Surtain are 1a and 1B for the best corners in the league.
