SEPTEMBER

And/or cheesy actors. This is so far away from Gronk's happy go lucky marketing persona that I have a hard time believing this is real.
Came off as theater to me.

Didn't realize this was even a thing.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will honor three former assistant coaches with the Awards of Excellence. The Hall announced Monday that Mike Westhoff, Bobb McKittrick and Ted Cottrell will make up the Class of 2026.

Didn't the Patriots have some sort of incident with Westhoff when he was with the Jets or Dolphins, or am I mis-remembering?

This is the fifth class for the Awards of Excellence, with 17 assistant coaches honored in that time.

This caused me to go back and look at previous recipients. Yes, Scar has already been recognized, though not part of the inaugural class.

Cottrell worked for six franchises over 24 seasons and is viewed as an innovator of the 3-4 defense

Huh? That would be Bud Wilkinson at Oklahoma, and later it was Chuck Fairbanks who brought it to the NFL.

The Hall will announce winners in film and video directors category.

I'm guessing the Patriots are permanently excluded from that category.

Receiving the awards for 2022 are: Assistant Coaches Alex Gibbs, Jimmy Raye, Terry Robiskie, Fritz Shurmur and Ernie Zampese; Athletic Trainers George Anderson, Otho Davis, John Omohundro, Jerry Rhea and Fred Zamberletti; Equipment Managers Sid Brooks, Ed Carroll, Tony Parisi, Dan “Chief” Simmons and Whitey Zimmerman; and Public Relations personnel Joe Browne, Charlie Dayton, Joe Gordon, Jim Saccomano and Gary Wright.

Assistant Coaches Sherman Lewis, Tom Moore and Dante Scarnecchia.

Assistant Coaches — Monte Kiffin, Bill McPherson and Lionel Taylor.

Assistant Coaches – **** Hoak (Steelers), Elijah Pitts (Rams and Bills) and Jim McNally (Bengals).

I'm confused here. Monte Kiffin was a great DC as was Fritz Shurmur, and Ernie Zampese was an OC - but most of the other 'assistant coaches' are position coaches, not coordinators. If Kiffin, Shurmur and Zampese are in, why not **** LaBeau as a DC, for example? He's certainly more qualified than **** Hoak.

On a side note, besides Dante Scarnecchia, Shurmur, Zampese and Jimmy Raye were also coaches with the Patriots at one point.

Isn’t that award named for them?

The New England Patriots Commemorative Film and Video Award,

with categories: Press Box, Sidelines, and Hotels Overlooking Practice Facilities.

(Too soon?)

When Westhoff was with the Jets, he was involved in the Sal Alosi sideline tripping incident when Alosi tripped Nolan Carroll after Carroll had gone out of bounds on the kick-off. Westhoff was the mastermind behind having players stand along the sideline track to possibly impede opposing gunners. Westhoff attempted to deflect from his own guilt by accusing the Patriots of doing similar things.

Westhoff was also the guy who spearheaded the rule change against Defensive Players pushing one another on Field Goal attempts citing "player safety".

So, where is AJ Brown going?
