2026 Draft: Linebacker

Tough one. Probably Rodriguez because of his athleticism but Allen is going to be the guy that leads your defense for a decade. Rodriguez is no slouch in the intangibles department though. Tags are touching.

I've been waiting for a chance to throw that one out.

Possible answers for me:

1. Neither, I would take Jake Golday.
2. Allen M-W-F, Rodriguez T-Th-S. Sunday is Game Day.
3. Whichever one slips further.

Really great dilemma to have, both are studs.

Not a great look although I suspect it doesn't matter for him. His draft position isn't on account of his athleticism and testing numbers don't say anything about his ability to read the game.

Unless he's had multiple top 10 teams tell him, emphatically, that they will take him if he's there at their pick, this is a mistake not to run and bad advice from his agent.

In fact, this could cause him to fall out of the top 10 and make a drop similar to Wilfork's, though Wilfork's drop was for different reasons.

On a separate note, I can't see them relying on guys like Britt, Muma, Reese, and Gainer. Also, with Ellis' contract up at the end of the year and the fact that he didn't actually play all that well (liability against the run and in coverage), I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats double dip at LB and look at 1-2 UDFA to push challenge Reese and Gainer on the back end of the roster.

Hmmm..
RT, EDGE, 2x LB, 2x TE, IOL x2, CB, S

If that's what the Pats walked away with come the draft, it will be interesting..

HUH?? Since when has Hill been mentioned in the 1st two rounds, let alone as one of the top LBers in the draft?
When has he not been mentioned in the first 2 rds???

Hill has been discussed over the past 6 months as anything from a top 10 pick to a fringe day 2/3 pick. As Boylhart discusses, he flashes 1st round potential, but has not put it together consistently. Mental processing seems to be an issue.

Personally, I wouldn't touch him before 95, hope someone else takes him high and pushes other guys down to us.

Over-rated because he was on Texas. He's not a top 5 LB in this draft.
Maybe maybe not.
That said he has been in the first 2 rds as long as I've been running sims and rankings.
I probably started about 2 months ago, and him and Allen were always very close, sometimes Allen would go ahead of Hill, but often times Hill would go first.
Allen has seemed to climb him now, but I did, and still see Hill mid 30s to 40s.
Don't know if I've ever seen him get out of the first 2 rds.

Jeremiah has him ranked 37th overall, which is pretty consistent with what I've seen for months.

CBS has him as the 2nd LB, 30th overall.

3 ESPN writers all have as 3rd LB.

I guess that's a Hill you're willing to die on.

The solo artist, James Foster, has him mid-4th, 10th LB, 121 overall. Hard marker. Notes: V good athlete but bench press was 21 (46th percentile) and a lack of production.

Consensus is 41 overall.

You are correct. He has always been discussed in the first two rounds on sites with rankings and evaluations.

He didnt give his opinion on Hill. He just made the observation that Hill has been discussed as a top 2 round pick all along. And hes correct. He has been. One of the first posts in this thread talked about him in Rd1. Hes even been mocked to the Patriots at the end of the first before. Consensus of 41 backs up his observation. Maybe he doesnt end up landing there, but hes been discussed there all along.

Spot on Rd.
For whatever reason I didn't see a lot of UT games this past year, so was just stating what I have consistently seen.
I can't weigh in with my opinion, as I don't have the firsthand knowledge to add.
