Drake likes taller targets, so maybe that helps.6'2" moves him out of the smurf category...
He is also 25...
Now the Pats have filled 4 needs... more to come.
They are probably out on WR for the rest of FA. I assume Pops walks. Now they probably really need to look to the draft to get that WR 1. And that means, and i know this is a big step. That first pick needs to be used on a WR with maybe a trade up if they want this addressed. You don't tend to often find WR1s in round 2 or lower.
I would prefer to keep Pop over Boutte.
I feel like Diggs was taking over Pop's slot role and with him gone that should help give Pop more opportunities.
Boutte made some highlight reel catches but can he be relied upon consistently?
I think you'll end up being a big fan of Doubs.Disagree with this, and with the #1 WR idea. What they need is what Pierce would have brought, a fast big bodied downfield receiver, and they can get that on day 2, but I would be ok with them getting one in the first round as well. Pierce was going to cost 100 million, and he was only getting 50 rec. a season. It was the threat of his size, speed, and YPC that would have opened up everything else other offense that made him so valuable, and they can find and develop that on day 2, you just might not get it the day he walks through the door. But that's ok, because the goal is to develop the team for the long term.
What these free agent moves are doing is shoring up needs and allowing them to go into the draft and go best player available, instead of being tied to a prospect because of a need at the position. They will have the freedom to choose the prospects with the best potential, and not be desperate in their moves.
I'm not a big fan of Doubs, but I think that between he and Chism Diggs production is covered, add a WR in the first 3 rounds and the overall unit has been upgraded. Now Philly is the team that has to find a way to unload Brown, because he's going to be seriously pissed at being dangled in front of everyone , and then reeled back in. I won't be surprised to see him shoot his way out of town. And I love the fact that the Patriots called Howie Roseman's bluff, and left him holding the bag.
At this moment, would you rather have Alec Pierce or DJ Moore?
Njoku is someone who id love to see here. Talented guy who got a raw deal in Cleveland. My ideal scenario:
1. Trade a 2nd + Boutte for AJ Brown + a 5th
2. Have a starting trio of Brown / Doubs / K.Williams, with backups of Hollins / Chism / Douglas
3. Sign Goedert or Njoku at TE to pair w/ Henry

I worry about the blocking, but he's a better blocker than Henry.Njoku is someone who id love to see here. Talented guy who got a raw deal in Cleveland.
Pierce probably. Deep threat vs you don’t know what you’re getting with Moore. Caleb Williams is a solid QB and Ben Johnson is a really good offensive mind and DJ couldn’t do much with that.Pierce.
3 receivers under 26. I don't think it's an accident.I hope so. I'm fine with the signing, it's another example of them being smart in their approach to team building.
1. I admittedly didn't spend a lot of time on this board before free agency. Were you calling for us to trade for Moore before Buffalo did?Love DJ Moore Buffalo beat us to him: he's going to be Great with Allen to our dismay.
Then everyone will ***** even more that they missed on Doubs. I actually like this signing a lotWhat if he produces more than Romeo Doubs this season??
Then we'll be playing in February again. What if he produces more than Romeo Doubs this season??
I don't think Goedert or Njoku pair particularly well with Henry. They're all in line TEs/Ys. They run similar route trees. Henry would be better complimented by a move TE like Okonkwo, IMO, or if they go with a dual in line/Y TE look then one of them should be a strong blocker. This was the same issue I had with Hooper last year, though those guys are better for sure so it'd be an improvement. My ideal scenario:
1. Trade a 2nd + Boutte for AJ Brown + a 5th
2. Have a starting trio of Brown / Doubs / K.Williams, with backups of Hollins / Chism / Douglas

I disagree. It is not just McDaniels, the Colts hate the Pats and vice versa. Plus they are probably pissed that we drove the price up on Pierce. Trading Pittman to the Pats was never going to happen period. Who are these players that are out there that the Pats could sign that are better than Doubs, curious to see this list.If the Pats offered a 5th the Colts aren’t going to take a 6th out of spite because McDaniels decided to not take the job 5 years ago
He's got exactly what you, specifically, want.I am mildly disappointed...
He is only 25 years old so maybe...
