NFL News Linderbaum gone to LV

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
After seeing today's prices, you might as well draft and pay your own guys. Also, you can trade Brown today with a post June 1 designation iirc. I still wouldn't do it for what they are asking.

I will say this. It has only been the first day. Thats being said a lot of good offensive line talent went off the board. Protecting Maye is a priority. I won't be content until that is addressed.

Raiders seem to be doing everything possible to set their future QB up for success. I like what they are doing.

Brady must be the driving force behind these moves.

I have a feeling the Pats would have signed him if not for an OUTRAGEOUS contract from LV

The Top NFL center in 2025 was at $18 mil and in general Centers are among the bargains on OL

Compare that to what the Lions signed Cade Mays for, who quite frankly would have been a HUGE upgrade over Wilson at Center (or Bradbury for that matter)

Linderbaum is making more in ONE year than Mays is making over the entire term of his contract.

Crazy

I wanted Linderbaum and thought $20-$23 mil is still way below the OL franchise amount and a doable annual salary

Close to $30 million a year? No thanks.

Certainly hurts the ravens. Already injury prone qb now has the whole interior ol to rebuild.

Inexplicable overpay. Bet they were at least $8MM/yr over next closest. He’s a ****ing Center.
Yep and it think it was Taylor Kyles that said in the film he isn't the best pass blocker ever so he was out for sure at that type of money. Standard Raiders crap imo. He won't be worth close to his contract.

I did have a similar thought - and I think Brady would be the first to affirm that a strong C is a good way to anchor both sides of the line.

But damn - that's one huge contract for a C when you look at even what the next highest paid Cs are getting and what other Cs got in free agency this year.

I guess he figures he can get away with spending that much given that they will have a QB on a cheap rookie contract for at least 4 years

Great player, horrible contract. Has nothing to do with being cheap, but everything to do with being responsible to the rest of the league at keeping the market straight. Obviously the Raiders have to overpay to have players go there at this point.

Aww you think that the teams/owners think about keeping the market straight, that's so cute! =) Trust me, the ONLY time they think about the market is when they themselves have to pay out to get what they want.

Condolences to the sign Tyler Linderbaum crowd.

<------ I was one and am fairly certain that ownership would have never paid what he wanted. But it looks like things make work out now that Vera-Tucker signed.

That's how much they have to overpay to attract that type of talent

They do have the benefit of having a QB on a rookie contract but this type of a contract for a C hinders them at other positions

I would have liked a solid C as Wilson's play at LG doesn't give me huge confidence he'll be good as a C, but heck, Cade Mays, a pretty good Center himself, isn't getting as much in 3 years from Detroit as Linderbaum is getting in ONE year from LV

The Pats had to overpay a few guys last year but not to this extent - and they made a point of not spending all they could, knowing that they were paying a premium.

Even now they're being VERY selective in this free agency period and not getting into bidding wars clearly - nor should they as more players WANT to play here now

Oh he is definitely overpaid. Good year to be a FA in the NFL.

Perhaps the raiders who are drafting #1 think that a center is worth the franchise price for an OL.

A center is worth much less to NE. After all we have Wilson and Brown as our centers.

Is it crazy to pay that much? It is to NE and the rest of those competing.

I know the cap and salaries are going up, but even as a percentage of the cap, this seems like a lot of money to allocate to that position.

I agree

LV was willing to pay lots more than normal for centers because they will be drafting the best QB in the county and having him start on Day 1.

A love Lindebaum but that deal is sick, and I thought he was going to get 25 per.

Crazy ass money for a center, especially for one who is weak on pass blocking.

I'd have been more than willing to make him the highest paid Center in the league and have had the Pats sign him

Given that this season that would mean more than $18 million a season I could assert that a $20-23 million investment at C would have anchored the line for the foreseeable future

I'm out of the bidding at $25 million let alone what LV paid

Interestingly though there's a lot of contracts exceeding expectations, including Doubs

Here's a projection from ESPN from a few days ago which seemed a little high to me then
