Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

What's the Story on Brandon Aiyuk: he took a Full year off. He would be a Stefon Diggs Replacement. Offer the 49ers a 4th or 5th for him.

Headcase. Got $$ he asked for, immediately got hurt, no-showed his rehab

According to Spotrac, the top available receivers are Jauan Jennings, Deebo Samuel, Tyreek Hill, Rashid Shaheed, Mike Evans and Romeo Doubs.
Remove Evans from the list, just signed with 49ers.

Cripes! Just saw on the TV screen that Phillips just signed and saw that the first two letters of his new team started with “Pa” thinking (hoping) we had signed him. Congrats tobthe “Pa-nthers”… Oh well, “We all we got, we all we need (almost)”……Oh yeah, it’s past 2:30pm - did someone wipe the “smile” off Zolak’s face??!!

S - Hawkins or Draft

Looks like the Pats are going to have to shell out money for Hawkins after the 3yr/$40M deal for Coby Bryant going to the Bears.

49ers have so many players including the QB on massive deals now sign Evans, don't tell me the "cap" is important.

If you're willing to spend it's just accounting.

The cap is mostly crap, you can kick as much of it down the road and spend as much as you want, it's 80% about the real cash you're willing to spend.

Every season you see teams projected at -60m cap space, next minute they're signing 100m free agent contracts, if you're pushing it down the road you're paying more money up front though and that's why owners don't want to do it.
Thats what dumb people do. The cap is not crap. Sorry, it just isn't. The bill always comes due. The real smart ones can navigate it at a high level, but it most definitely isn't crap. It can get you in massive trouble if you don't know what you are doing.

Dumb people?

Howie Roseman is someone who does it the most, he's widely though of as the best GM in the game.

It's actually smart since the cap is always going up taking money from the future is actually like you're working with 2 extra pro bowlers than everyone else operating cash to cap.

Obviously a terrible contract is still a terrible contract but if you make good signings it's a big advantage.

Its so cute seeing some of y'all totally misunderstanding the market in 2026.

You want a player you're gonna pay for the damn player.

Thats why I said the smart ones can manage it to the best extent. There aren't many of those around and those teams pay the price.

You don’t think Howie wanted to keep Milton Williams?

Anything that pressures teams to make tough financial decisions is not crap.

And the 49ers… can we at least use a team with a ring on their resume as an example?
