Patriots Rumor Alec Pierce question

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
What is early?
Hurst/Lance are probably 3rd rounders.
Stribling/Sturdivant/Caldwell 4-5.
When you say early, are you suggesting Caldwell goes in the 2nd or 3rd?
I can't see that.
Hurst, Lance or Caldwell could sneak up to late round 2 if there is a run on receivers. I would guess one of them will go round 2. There is no telling how teams have them ranked. Teams could be in love with one of them and don’t want to miss out.

I could see Hurst or Lance sneaking into the 2nd.
I cannot see Caldwell going that high, but like I said, it just takes one team to fall in love with him.

I have looked at many mocks/player/position rankings and the highest ranking I've see on Caldwell is about the 30th ranked WR, highest overall ranking of about 180.
Now his combine will entice and move him up, but I can't see him going from the 180th overall prospect and 30th WR, up to a top 64 spot.

Good, maybe he’ll be there for us late 3rd round.

He has leverage and it won’t surprise me if he gets it.

Ballard keeps talking like he's going to get him signed, but if so he's done a terrible job because the price tag has skyrocketed while he has let it drag on:

I’d be shocked if Pierce signed with the Colts.

Brought this up in another thread, but Pierce reminds me of Welker, not what kind of receiver he is, but just as a guy ready to take the next step.

Ballard is funny because he’s been there for like 7-8 years and they’ve won nothing. The biggest problem with them is Pittmans contract and whiffing on A-Rich.

Well he did give up 2 1sts and Mitchell for Sauce

Because he really has no choice but to go for it at this point. Eventually being in the same spot for 8 years and having nothing to show for it starts the clock, especially when the owner that hired you is dead. So chances are good that he’s not around by the end of next year and it’s also a very good chance that the Jets waste the picks. Because well…they’re the Jets.

Doubs will get what, 13-15 a year?
That is not #1 WR money, not even close.
That's #2 WR money nowadays.
Now if you sign him for more and think he's a number one, then you get yourself into trouble....and you should be fired!
If Alec Pearce and his 47 catches are going to get 26 million+, the Doubs will certainly be in that territory.

Doubs will be in the 26+ territory?
Not a chance.

I agree.
Then why Pierce?
Doubs has never topped 725 yds snd has a 12 yds/per career avg.
Pierce has increased his production with terrible QB play 3 years in a row, topping 1000 this year.
He has also lead the league in yds/rec over the past 2 years, averaging more than 10yds catch than Doubs.
Pierce can change coverage.
They are far from similar.

Yds/rec is awesome...if you have more than a career-high 47 catches.
He's just not worth anywhere near that money to me.

Would you rather pay a WR who caught 100 passes for 1000 yards over a WR that has 50 catches for 1000 yards?

If they want Pierce, they need to offer 26 million or 27 million. If he lands in LA (almost said San Diego), hopefully we can land Doubs, and then draft someone like Brazell, who is bigger and faster than Pierce, it would take 31 probably because he won’t be there at 63. He might even be gone by 31. Ted Hurst & Jeff Caldwell could be available in the 3rd round, unless there is a huge run on receivers. Ja’Kobi Lane is another one, slightly slower than Pierce, but at 4.47 and 6’4” 200, is a good target. A sneaky pick would be Bryce Lance, who’s 6’3” and over 200 pounds and runs a 4.34, and a 41.5 inch vert, so pretty explosive.
Pass on Chris Brazzell: Tennessee runs a ******ed Offense for WR's who don't usually translate in the Pros. That said any prospect but Brazzell.
