I genuinely think the Patriots team is just... For lack of a better way to put it, manlier. Our interior DL is straight up violence. Barmore is a "**** around and find out" personality and Milton is just a brute. Chaisson can decleat you with raw power. Spillane is a bluecollar field janitor, just cleaning up runners. Gonzalez is a low-key nasty fighter, Davis does not shy away from throwing hands. The offense is full of people who are out for blood every game, a group of fighters and leaders.

Goddamn I want this game to start lol.

Seattle may be the better team on paper according to the mediots, but we’re the better TEAM.

If Maye is close to 100%, Seattle is in for a rude awakening.
The 2 defenses are basically a wash.
But Patriots offense with a healthy Maye is clearly superior.
The struggles with our rookie OL will keep some of the Pats scoring down. But I expect a Patriots win.
Williams and Barmore will be huge in this game. Our cbs are exceptional and the combo of those 2 things means Darnold is back to seeing ghosts. I woukd take the over on Darnold INTs.
One thing I believe you might be under appreciating- we don’t really have pass catchers who separate or stress a defense. Seattle does.

There isn’t even an Edelman type who, while not a burner, is really hard to cover in space.

If Pats lose, my guess is looking back it will be because no one got open in 3 seconds or less.

26 points in 3 games against three of the top 5 defenses in the league is pretty goddamned dominant.
Defensively they have been dominating. I was referring to the offense. If the Patriots had just put up 30+ in three straight games this is a pick em right now.

This.

Seattle has a #1 WR who is a beast and takes the top off of defenses. JSN will require double coverage. Meaning, Kupp and Shaheed will play big roles in this game.

There is no Edelman/Amendola duo that were so effective in SB 49 & 51. The Patriots put up 33 in SB 52. But you could tell they still missed Edelman.

they will double JSN some, but not on every play. Gonzalez will have some single coverage. The question is can they disguise their coverages. If Darnold is not sure what defensive look he is getting, he will be less certain and more hesitant. Apparently Chargers and Texans had real trouble with this.

A week til the Super Bowl. I still think we’re winning it all

Do folks here think that a point spread of 5.5 is unreasonable?

I certainly think that we have to play better than we have in order to win, and of course, I expect us to win.
Way too high. Should be 3.5 points

Not sure why people have started saying this. The Patriots have found separation all season and have Diggs, who is probably going to pour his heart and soul into this game. Saying Pats WR don't get separation when they had the #2 offense in the league and had 4,200 passing yards is... Very confusing.

Seattle is one of the worst defenses as far as covering tight ends. If our game plan centers around that I like our chances on offense.

True but we have much better corners than Seattle. Gonzo is as good as their is. Jones is one of the best slot cbs in the league. Davis is solid. Plus Woodson, as a rookie, has been very good.
We also have some of the best contested-catch wrs in the nfl:
Boutte, Diggs and Hollins are better at contested catches than Seahawks top 3 wrs.
That's fact. That helps offset the Seattle advantage with separation.
I also like our rbs better.

That being said, JSN is a handful.
But one wr, no matter how good, is not gonna win a SB

If the Patriots had put up 30 in three straight games, while giving up 26 they'd be a 10 point favorite.
That is what I am trying to get at. Experts are predicting on recency bias. To be fair, most of the world does that in one form or another.

Drake Maye's accuracy and a WR group that excels at contested catches were the keys that drove the offense. The lack of separation showed itself with the poor redzone numbers and the playoff games where Maye had nowhere to go with the ball.
