From what I could tell it looked like our receivers were blanketed in man coverage against Denver.

Tough game for Maye. He took sacks, but didn't turn the ball over.
When the field became snow coverage receivers had a difficult time making cuts to get open. Maye went deep left down the sideline to Boutte who was blanketed by Surtain. That pass was toward the open end and the wind in that stadium really played a factor moving the ball around. It looked like Surtain could have picked it.

Hollins was one who got free and made life easier for Maye. It seemed like passing was easier moving towards the closed end of the stadium. The same direction that Stidham had his INT when he tested Gonzo.

I

I predicted 24-21 Denver mostly because of the history here. Never once said the Pats didn't have a chance cause they absolutely did. Happy to take the L on that but it's just funny to hear all the talk this morning that the Pats might as well not show up.
Can't be a fan and root for an opposing team...in the PLAYOFFS!

My reverse jinx worked... should I predict the Seahawks now? Lol

Patriots can not win this game without the defense/ST's getting a score/getting great field position for the offense. They need two turnovers.

Offense cannot turn it over. Can't have 3rd and 10, 3rd and 15 all game. Get 28 offensive points on their own. Let the defense get the remaining points.

Maye simply has to be better. There is no way they can win without him reverting back to the guy from the regular season.

Need better punts. Denver punter was much better yesterday.

With Drake Maye, I am sure the nerves are through the roof in the playoffs hence the first half jitters.

Wonder if they can do something to calm it down.

Okay, MIDDLE California, along the coast. lol. Happy?

Santa Clara is in NoCal and I wasn't unhappy. The Pats are going to the freakin' Super Bowl, how the hell could any of us (okay, any of us outside of Cow, Sam & FCB) be unhappy?

Cookies?

These 2 weeks will be much more beneficial for the Pats than Hawks. Hawks just had a bye.
Pats have been grinding against one of the craziest playoff stretches ever as far as Defensive rankings + weather games.

In '01 it was the Pats D that was challenged against the best Offense in the league.
This time, it's the Pats O that is going to have to find another gear, and shock the world against that D.

Mystique why are you still here? Shouldn’t you be looking at free agents and draft boards? Or you can enlighten us with your deep thoughts on what some idiot on a dolphins fan site says, or your cutting edge analysis, defense needs to score some points. Thanks for the help, now Skidattlee.

This would be a game where Bill would make life tough for Darnold. Vrabel neds to come up with something really good.

I really hate considering the Bay Area "north" California. Much of my family tree is in actual north California an hour or so from the border. Feels like erasure of half the state lol

Time to start dissecting stats to find reasons to believe we can beat SEA.

Look at their last 10 games of the reg season - all bad/losing teams except for 2 Rams games (split), and 1 49ers (useless) game.
Then played those 2 again in postseason. I mean, the Rivers-led Colts almost beat them in week 14.

Sam is prone to turnovers - we have to get pressure
JSN is their ENTIRE offense - we have to double him and take him away
SEA D is clearly susceptible to big plays - Maye has to be perfect when throwing mid-deep

Nah, Darnold doesn't make mistakes, those 14 INT and 11 fumbles for a league leading 25 turnovers were imaginary. For the next two weeks, Darnold will be the second coming of Tom Brady, the chosen one, the one to stop the Evil Empire vol. 2 aka The First Order.

When we beat them, he will become Captain IF like Herbert, someone who doesn't deserve a new contract like Stroud and a pumpkin after twelve like Stidham.

The Pats are 17-3
The Seahawks are 16-3

The Pats allow 17 ppg
The Seahawks allow 17 ppg

The Pats averaged 28.8 ppg
The Seahawks averaged 28.4 ppg

Maye 31-8, 4440 yards, 450 rushing 4 TD's
Darnold 25-14, 4050, 90 rushing, 0 TD's

The mediot narrative for the next two weeks: Darnold is just as good as Brady ever was, the Seahawks are the 2007 Pats on offense and 85 Bears on defense, and Pats and Drake Maye are lucky to be here.
I never understand the fascination with what mediots say. What some ex player or journalist thinks has no baring on what’s going to happen in the game.

The Patriots can’t win either way. If they do beat Seattle then there will be some plethora of excuses why it happened and it will all be down to luck. If they lose it will be because they were frauds who feasted on cupcakes.

It is what it is as the great one used to say. And yes, it’s great to be hated for a reason again!

I feel like the guy who on a panel for the 2024 draft said “I’m tired of all this Drake Maye blasphemy, whoever gets Drake Maye wins the whole draft, hands down”. I have liked to have seen Darnold in that sh•t yesterday.

The offense needs to revert to their regular season peak to have a shot. Defense can't be left hung out to dry again like the last two weeks. We need a complete team win.
