Rapoport: Mac Jones Likely a Trade Candidate this Offseason

If Trey Lance can get a 4th round pick, Mac could get something decent like that.
My hope is we can work a Mac trade for a performance/playing time based conditional pick.

Steve Young, Vinny Testaverde, Rich Gannon...
Rich Gannon was a 7th rounder who worked his way up. No one ruined him, he made himself. He didn't even get to start until midway of his 4th year.

How could he possibly be ruined when he didn't even get to play?

The funny thing here is that you listed Vinny Testaverde, a guy who played 6 full seasons in Tampa, he may or may not have ruined him, but he was rehabilitated by a guy named... um, checks notes... Bill Belichick!

Not sure how you can claim Steve Young was ruined. He only became Tampa's starter in their 2nd year, then was immediately traded to San Fran where he SAT for another 4 years. BEHIND Montana. If anything, the trade is what ******ed his career, not his one year as starter at Tampa. In fact, at San Fran in his first year, he threw 10 TDs and 0 INTs in the 3 games he played due to Montana's injury.

I think Lance was a case of Jerrah being Jerrah. I don't know if you can use him as a comp. Supposedly, Jerry Jones made the trade for Lance without telling his GM or head coach.
Also, Lance had a few more years on his contract. This is why it was smart for the 9ers to cut bait quick. Mac is effectively a 1 yr rental. Why give up a decent pick for that?

Do you have to start a thread everytime there's a news article that we all can see? There's already a Mac trade thread dude.
I started it - this is a new report that not everyone was aware of (and people scanning the board aren't necessarily going to dig into every post), so I broke it out here and moved over all the posts following the initial post with the Tweet so it's not buried in the other thread.

It's the same topic. There's nothing new here. We've been talking about this for months. Now there's two threads on the same topic. It's stupid.

Do you get extra recognization/clicks for the more threads that are started?

No, it's simply a matter of one being related to a new report that came out, which is being picked up everywhere, and making it easier for people who come in here to both see it and react to it. Us speculating about Jones being traded and his value isn't the same as a report saying he's now likely to be traded (the other thread was pondering whether or not he'd be moved at all, and what he might fetch in value).

People continue to underrate how bad Mac is. He can’t throw an out.
If Mac lacks the arm strength to throw a standard out route, then he shouldn’t have been a first round pick. Or second or even third. Wow.

If this is true, why not offer a straight up trade with the Jests: Mac Noodle Arm for Zach Awful Wilson? At least that guy has the arm.

Wait, Ian is speculating Mac is going to be shopped based on no source, is a new report?

No ****. Everyone on the planet knows this. They shopped him last spring. The shopped him at trade deadline. They're certainly shopping him now that everyone knows he sucks.

These guys were wrong about Bill getting hired by the Falcons. They were wrong about the reasons he wasn't hired too. Pretty sure our own posters have come up with better scenarios than those clowns.

I hear you - but Rapoport saying he's hearing he's out is different from us speculating on it. Again, just makes it easier for people to quickly see the report when they come in here.

You can always join another forum that you think is better or you can start your own and put in the thousand of hours Ian has building it.

I'm fine with anybody speaking out and saying stuff if they've got something they're not happy with. People are allowed to air grievances on here, especially since many of those have prompted changes to this place over the years, many of which were for the better. So I'd rather have people say something than not, so it's all good ;)

Sadly, a year too late.

Belichick never had faith in Mac. Mac's goose was cooked in the Tampa game in early 2021 when he had a chance to lead a game winning drive but Belichick opted to play for the tie.

Does that include me speaking out too when I see a thread that's already 3 pages long with a lot of people participating being **** on by one guy?

Absolutely.

If we can't get a pick for him, such a trade actually might not suck.
