Player Signing Cam newton resigned 1 year deal

Not sure if you're joking or serious, but either way this is a lousy post.
I mean that same post has been made by a dozen other posters, so it's a pretty popular take.

An excessive amount of hand wringing here it seems. It's March 12th...the season doesn't start till September 9th. A lot of things will happen before then.
But this is a signal of where we will be.
A man who asserted he deserves to be a starter since a contract before even checking with any other team. That means whatever was communicated to him leads him to believe he has his starting job and need not look any further.

What was communicated was surely no veterans with starting experience will be brought in and frighteningly it may also have included not drafting a an in round 1.

There is just no question that cam Newton will be the QB of this team in opening day and of being the worst QBs in the nfl qualified him to come back with a raise I’m not sure what it would take to remove him.

Think about this. The guy we watched suck out loud last year was rehired with a raise and assured it’s his job.

And it’s a legitimate concern. In 35 years in the NFL Bill Belichick has never been this stupid about anything.

Yeah

In '07, Brady had that high ankle sprain, the team lost its starting right guard at the start of the game, the TEs were all banged up, and the starting CB2 had a lower body injury that limited him a bit.

And, in '11, Brady was completing pass after pass until he got hurt, and then wasn't quite the same for the rest of the game.

So when people cry about the Chiefs OL, I understand it, but can't really muster up any sense of pity about it.
Nobody in the media took into account Brady's ankle after the Giants beat them. Rosevelt Colvin was a massive loss. While AD was a beast rushing the passer and almost had 3 sacks in that game, his coverage was badly missed when Kevin Boss rumbled for a massive gain in the 2nd half. Sammy Morris was a big loss a well.

But all the credit went to the Giants. Also, a healthy Gronk in 2011 Super Bowl is probably the difference. He was also absent in 2012 AFCCG and Talib got injured as well when they had the Ravens O on the ropes.

I don't care what teams have inquires anymore. If you're not available, oh well.

stop with the "raise" red herring, Andy...the contract is a 3.5 mil pittance by NFL QB standards. It's March 12th...don't jump in the lifeboat yet

Agree. Many people are still reacting to the original $14 mil figure. If he doesn’t hit his incentives, this is a vet backup QB contract. Have posters here seen most of the backup QBs in the league currently? Sh*t show central.

On the other hand, if plan A is for Cam to be the starter come September, I will start to question BB’s mental state, dispite my love for the man.

I’m willing to wager money scam is the week 1 starter.

This is the same type of contract as last year, with a raise. These same arguments were made last year. History repeats itself.
WRONG - It is definitely NOT the same. Last year Cam was signed like the day before camp started and didn't know a thing about the offense and more importantly the SEMANTICE that is necessary to speak the language.. Last year Cam was the LAST step to address the QB situation. This year he is only the FIRST step.

Hopefully we will all be able to go to camp and see for ourselves if what I pointed out makes any difference. Ven, my point is that this signing is failsafe against the possibility that no one we want shakes loose from their teams. BTW- I don't think the picture will clear much until just before the draft. I think that week and immediately after the draft things will shake out more. So if you hate the signing you will have a full month to stew in your own stew of toxic juices because I don't see anything more happening on the QB front until them

Psst! Josh Allen finished second in MVP voting and got votes for offensive player of the year. And Brady wasn't first in either voting. So I am not the only one who thought Allen had a better season than Brady.
This goes back to our 2003 argument over McNair vs Brady. McNair got co MVP, but I wouldn't have taken McNair over Brady. McNair came up short vs the Rams while Brady led the game winning drive two years later. Brady beat McNair in a shootout, then beat him in a slugfest. Beat the other MVP in the AFCCG. Brady went on to beat Carolina in a shootout. Now saying you'd take Josh Allen over Brady is nuts. Allen ended up getting his a** kicked vs the Chiefs while Brady sliced up the Chiefs D with ease.

Isn't there a Brady thread that you can take this dispute to. It is getting to be like listening to the same record over and over. It is getting TIRESOME.

I have no problem dropping it. @Rob0729 don't even respond to my post and this will end.

Now let's get back on topic. Bill really brought back Cam Newton?

Even Shannon Sharpe agrees and said he probably catches the hail mary at the end too.

Other than the fact that you capitalized a word that doesn’t exist, this is a good post. I agree that the chicken littles here and on twitter/reddit need to take an extra dose of xanax relax in a bubble bath.

Might be true. I have been a fan since the 80s, but there is something about watching Cam that I do not enjoy. He is a great guy - I like him personally. Sometimes I found I enjoyed listening to his post game reactions more than watching him on game day. I guess the whole team looks dysfunctional with Cam at QB and that triggers some deep seeded anxiety left over from my damage childhood. Not sure how to explain it any other way. Watching Hoyer and Stidham did not trigger me like Cam. Not sure if that makes me a poser fan or not.

sounds like you have issues because there’s nothing pleasant about watching Hoyer or Stidham play. Early in the season, Cam looked pretty good. Whatever the problem was, the front office felt there’s a pretty good chance they can work around it or fix it.

he is undefeated against Brady

That was so close, but I don't think it even comes down to that. Gronk makes chain moving catches during the game that probably seals it.

An opinion/take being popular makes it right? Besides it being (very likely) wrong, it is distasteful to those who've actually watched a family member succumb to cognitive decline/dementia/Alzheimer's. Lost my grandfather (dad's father) in Feb. 2014 due to a combination of age and dementia - he was in his early 90s.

I guess it's possible it's happening in Belichick, but seems extraordinarily unlikely. Just seems like off-the-cuff internet trolling/"humor".

Right, and you're a true fan for wanting the team to suck only to spite portions of the fanbase/media. Please.

the pats are my team.....watched them suck much worse than 7-9.......you’re the idiot that assumes I want them to suck. But it might be just the thing to get rid of you pink hats

"Scam"? God this moniker is lame.

Why would you actively root against players on the team you supposedly root for?

Would have given it to McNair here over Fivehead but Brady should have gotten more votes.
