If the RH-hitting 2nd Baseman Chavis is the real deal - and so far so good - then the RH-hitting 2nd Baseman Pedroia has no role here. There's no way he can play SS again, so he's useless as a bench player too. To paraphrase Lou Gorman, what would we do with Dustin Pedroia?

he wont quit on his own...they will have to make the decision for him. the Chavis kid seems to be holding his own at 2b

He adds very little at this point in time.

After all this time away, and his knee isn't any better, and 1st Base & DH are not options...
