A couple days before the draft, lots of smoke!

Not much of a college ball guy, I heard ESPN yokels pushing the idea of the Pats taking Ryan Finley. Any potential there?

I get most of my draft evaluations from this web page. Pretty intelligent guys (BobDigital)and gals (PatsDeb).
If this guy is the best player on the Pats board, then take him with the 32. Otherwise take a player that we can use for the next three years. Spending 1st round money for three years for a player that probably won’t see the field, better be one that will actually be competing to start over Brady in year 2 or 3. My guess it is smoke.
Next year I will have a different take because I would like to see someone groomed for 2 years under Brady

Good sources, that forum is exceptional. I agree on your take as well. Regardless of what anyone else thinks if he’s got a 1st Rd. grade and they believe he’s another Garrapolo type prospect then they take him. I would be shocked if they took him at # 32, I just don’t believe that will happen. I think it’s smoke as well, although a QB in the 2nd makes a lot of sense.

Lots of smoke and lies before the draft.

Another smoke screen or true? I think smoke screen!

Yeah, its chaff to distract from the player bb really wants.

IS the next Aaron Rodgers sitting there?

It depends on Bill's evaluation of the guy. No one knows for sure whether a HOF QB will be sitting there, but I trust Bill's ability more than anyone.

And my analogy does not only apply to HOF type players. I would rather have a draft full of solid to good players at positions that we don't need to fill right away than one with marginal players at positions of need. Always BPA.

Love reading all the prognostications of what the Patriots will do only for them to turn around and draft a Centre at 32.

God damn smoke, it's everywhere! Why won't all the smokers just drop dead!

I’m not as down on Grier as some but I would need to go buy a new TV if they took him in the first round.
Took me a minute Cousin, but you got a smile out of me.

Doubt he is even close at corn hole.

Billy setting some foolish team up for a trade down fleecing. When are sucker GMs gonna learn?

Happiest guy in America if the first 31 picks in the draft were QBs would be the guy picking 32nd.

I think he'd be happier if 31 right footed punters got picked.

Yes Aus, this many years of BB's drafting pretty clearly show it's anyone's guess when the Patriots' number is called. Too many times has it pointed to A only for him to inexplicably draft Z (for better or worse).

I would love to see our next star TE drafted, however, for these first couple of picks I'll be thrilled if we draft a player at almost any position that can be a good starting player. Every solid starter that comes from the draft is a big cap dollar to production value. This value has the trickle down effect to free resources for other positions of need (filled by way other than the draft).

My expectations are reasonable. I just want to see the following in the first 3 rounds:

—trench players on the OL and/or DL

—some type of weapon for Brady at TE and/or WR

Anything else will be gravy, and that includes:

—trading down to acquire an additional 1st for 2020

—drafting a QB to groom during Tom’s final yrs

—adding a weapon to the secondary at CB/S

If some combination hits and most of these boxes are checked, I think the majority of us should be happy!

Yeah I think he’d be happy “settling” for Bosa.

For 2019 if we can just get the TE/WR that can put up good numbers? I'll be happy. Actually, if for the 2019 draft->season it's only a dual threat productive TE we get? I'll be ecstatic !(it's the pessimist in me :))

The thing is, we pretty much do understand how he drafts.

The thing that we don't know is how the Patriots value various players. For example, I doubt I will ever understand how the Patriots felt that Darius Butler and Ron Brace offered more value to a team that had just traded away Mike Vrabel than Vrabel's younger clone, Connor Barwin.

And, please.

If there is any smoke about our interest in a player, it’s because BB wants it out there.
